So What Were You In High School ?

Here's my categories from what I remember ........

    1. Smart Kid, but at least semi-cool

    2. Nerd (not necessarily smart and very uncool)

    3. Jock

    4. Burn-Out

Fell free to add more .....

    BTW, I was number 4

I was a horrible mix up of numbers 1-2 and 3 in no particular order, so I said the hell with it and went for number 4 in college.

I'll go with 2. I even brought my own chess set to school.

          Same here.
I was always "smart" but embarrassed because all my friends were dumbasses and it wasn't cool to be smart in that group. Eventually my senior year I got passed all that and graduated with high honors in time to save face and prove to people I was just a "prick" as Stevemoore put it.

I wasn't a nerd or anything bad. I hung around those kids that smoked cigarettes under the Pavilion near the school and wore black concert tee shirts. My parents put the fear of god in me about cigarettes so I used to "pretend" I was smoking to look cool.

BTW type1kirk. Thank you for making it interesting to read topics in here. We can't always be so serious. You rule!

            The outcast.

I was one of the 5 black kids in a school of 2000 white kids in So.Cal. I did have friends, but I was never gonna be a popular kid. You remember that show Square Pegs where the black chick was Tracey Nelson's best friend? Forgetaboutit!

              I was weird

I was a jock that hung around all sorts of people.Ghetto, burn outs, geeks you name it.

I was more the nice guy you didn't want to mess with.I did something pretty bad when i was in High school so kids and teachers were kind of scared of me.

but i have to say my best friends were nerds and geeks and i would'nt change those guys for anything. Some are still by best friends, looked out for them in HS and no one messed with them

I was in the level 1 classes so I knew all the smart kids. Was a B-C student but never really applied myself to be truthful. I hung out with all the leather jackets cuz they had the best parties, and though I didn't play school sports I played all the town leagues, baseball, basketball, football so I knew all the jocks too. At 6'5" 350 I really didn't have too many issues with bullies or anything. I scalped concert tickets and worked at the game room at the local mall for $$ so I pretty much met everyone at the three high schools in the area. It's tough now cuz I see so few of the people I was friendly with back then just due to life taking over. One of my best friends from a neighboring high school has a TV commercial and everytime I see it I always say I'm gonna call him and just never seem to find the time. They were some good times back then. Wish I had realized it at the time. Fortunately my boys learned and really got the most out of their time in high school. I was there for that so maybe I kinda got a second chance.

We had Nerds, Jocks, Burn Outs and Gear Heads. I was somewhere between a Nerd and a Gear Head. Mostly Gear Head! Must have had something to do with the $25 rusted out 66 Nova and the 1939 Chevy I drove to school, all equipped with 8-track players and CB radios!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Male between 14-18 depending on the year.
Unlike now I had a full head of blond hair. Funny thing the realy light blond hair is what fell out first.

I was absent. The first two years I went a lot, the second two, I missed a third of those years. Most of my teachers were pretty cool about it, I did the work, just didn't feel like being there.

I was a misfit and an outcast. I was a dork. I hung out with the rest of the girls who never had boyfriends.

i was a geek before high school. in high school i put away all my toys and comics, got new clothes and excelled in sports -i was a jock and smart kid (all the AP classes yet poor grades because i didn't turn in work often). able to mingle with all groups.

it was a few years after high school that i realized i never ceased being a geek. i just suppressed my true self. i proudly came out of the geek closet at a Star Trek movie opening.

though i am a true geek through and through, i am definitely not a nerd or a dork. there are major distinctions and these terms should not be used interchangeably.
