No...especially a dude...zero chances of that ever happening.

I did pick up a woman once, who had run out of gas by the side of the road...drove her to the nearest gas station....and back...she offered me money, but I politely said no...the end, lol.

Only if he were carrying a chainsaw and large duffle bag that mumbled.

At least then, there'd be no surprises.

I totally understand the point of not picking up the hitchhiker...the unknown....but who in their right mind would get into a car driven by me????

What I mean is you have no idea what the drive of the car may be "pack'n" either

Knowing my luck, the hitchhiker would be Death.

If you've ever watched an episode of I Survived you'd never, ever, ever pick up a hitchhiker.

Back in the early 90's a very good female friend decided to hitchhike to my house to visit my girlfriend and I. She was picked up by some POS who tried to rape her and when she fought him off he stabbed her over 50 times with a screwdriver. Thankfully she lived.

I'd probably pick up a female(s) if I felt safe just to make sure they got where they were going unharmed, but I can't fathom why anybody would ever get in a car with a stranger.

My grandfather would use to tell hitchhikers he'd pick them up on the way back from where he was going to. He never came back for them.

True story, when i was a kid I picked up a hitch-hiker just because the opportunity presented itself. I had a 92' convertible lebaron with the top down and there was this hitch hiker was on the side of the road with her thumb out. It was a young black lady that had taken a bus to the last stop on the line and was trying to get back to her folks house, which was about nine miles down the road. I stopped and picked her up and took her to her place. I don't know if I would do that today but for me at the time it was a bit of a throwback. But for those of you who's say "not in these times" I think its more of the fact that its illegal to hitch and much less unnecessary and likely than in the past what with triple A & cel phones and all. At one time it was possible to hitch from coast to coast and I heard a couple of good tales about thumbin' it to Woodstock but that was a long time ago and seeing someone on the side of the road in the 21st century is just outta place and weird.
