Has it been confirmed that this is indeed, a reboot?

I can't find it being officially called a reboot ANYwhere... yet everyone seems to be using that word in today's & yesterday's social media/journalism media reports (not crediting anyone in the actual production as far as I can see)...while for years and years (up until just recently) talks of cameos from original Busters reprising their roles to "hand down the torch" has been loudly trumpeted.

Any confirmation yay or nay here?

Can they take out the Fantastic Four before turning the guns on themselves?

I dunno, the choices seem very safe. These are just about the people you would have predicted when they first said "all-female Ghostbusters." But studios are crazy conservative when it comes to women carrying movies-- they can bankroll a bazillion dollar superhero blockbuster starring some British kid nobody has heard of, but are still too afraid to give ScarJo her own Black Widow movie.

I get what you're saying about the "reboot" issue. I haven't seen anything from Feig about his vision for this (admittedly, I haven't looked very hard for anything, either). With the plethora of reboots that have hit the screen recently, it may very well be that everyone is using the term erroneously in regards to Ghostbusters. That's just semantics, though. I think that any time a director launches a project with an existing title/franchise that has been dormant for so long, it's only natural to consider it a reboot, rather than a continuation.

However, I do want to address a comment you made later about the actresses being "safe" and "predictable" choices. I think you can make that assumption about Wiig and McCarthy, but McKinnon and Jones are definitely risky choices, especially for those not up on the last couple seasons of SNL. Jones has the benefit of recently being in a Chris Rock movie, but they are far from household "safe" names. I could think of a couple dozen other actresses that would have been considered much "safer" choices for those roles.

Regardless of all this, I'm excited to see where this one goes. Hoping for the best, but bracing for the worst. Regardless of the outcome, life at the movies will go on.

I'm the other way around, I love Kristen Wig...and cannot stand the obnoxious Melissa McCarthy...annoying and unfunny immediately comes to mind every time I see her.

Leave great movies alone. They are classics for a reason.

Ghostbusters is a perfect example. Movie studios have no creativity anymore. This is the reason for constant remakes, reboots, etc.

Same goes for the Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones. There will only be one Indiana Jones in my opinion and that is Harrison Ford

                      Jeeee-BUS!

You know you board posters guys have gone too far when even "I" can't muster the energy to school on why this isn't being made because "Hollywood's run out of ideas" or why "this flick shouldn't be judged before even one camera shot's been put into action".

                      You win, Ghostbuster Fan Dream-Busters!

^ It's not your "place" to school anyone here but for some reason you always feel the need to try to do that. They're opinions in an open forum board and yours is never better than anyone else's.

Yes I do. Apologies if that bothers you. But I like it.

Have to disagree with that one.

I'm open minded. I would have preferred a blending of old and new casts, but I'm fine with this. It can't be worse that Ghostbusters II.

My first thought was is Annie Potts gonna be in it?
