    And the new Ghostbusters are...

Sony has announced that its all-female Ghostbusters remake directed by Paul Feig has been cast. The four main characters are going to be Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

McCarthy and Wiig both worked with Feig in Bridesmaids while Jones and McKinnon are from Saturday Night Live.

Hmmm, I was hoping for Amy Schumer.

I read Melissa Macarthy and said I'm out, then I realized I confused her with Jenny Macarthy so I'm back in, maybe.

I liked her in The Heat - I was getting kind of a John Belushi vibe from her. Not a fan of Kristen Wiig, though.

My first reaction when I saw the four pictures of the actresses lined up is that they're a direct copy of the original cast. Macarthy is Venkman, Wiig is Stantz, McKinnon is Spangler, and Jones is obviously Louis Tully.

Disaster written all over it. Why ruin one of the classics. Yuck.

I think it could be good, seems it's not being done as a continuation of the originals. As long as they make it a "smart" comedy and not a slapstick farce. Or a big budget special effects blowout. The original was a classic for the interaction of the characters with the ghosts kinda just being the catalysts.

Wiig was great in Bridesmaids in the airplane scene. McCarthy was great in every scene she was in.

A little disappointed I'm never going to get a Real Ghostbusters animated movie. Oh, well.

I really like Wiig as Lola Bunny and Lucy Wilde. Not really familiar with the rest of the cast.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I will wait till a trailer comes out to give it my 2 cents.

This movie does have alot to live up to.

I get the hate that some people have of Kristen Wiig. I felt she got overexposed on SNL and was far too dependent on recurring characters that just weren't funny (Gilly, Target Lady, etc.). With that being said, I have really enjoyed her work outside of SNL. I thought she was great in Bridesmaids as well as in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. And, if you ever saw the TV miniseries, The Spoils of Babylon, you saw how funny she was in that as well.

I like Melissa McCarthy a lot and Kate McKinnon brings a crazy-good energy to everything she does on SNL. I'm really excited to see what she can do in a big screen role. I'm not a fan of Leslie Jones and her work on SNL to date. She flubs every 3rd line or so. That's not really an issue for a movie role, and hopefully she brings something more to the part. I can see why Feig chose her, and I trust him enough to get on board with this selection.

Speaking of which, Paul Feig is one of the big reasons I'm looking forward to this. I didn't see The Heat, but he directed Bridesmaids as well as some of my favorite episodes of The Office (Goodbye Michael, Niagara, etc.), not to mention that he was the creator of Freaks and Geeks. He's written a couple of really funny books and definitely knows comedy. Ghostbusters is comedic canon in some circles, and taking on a re-boot of something like this can be tricky. Heck, doing a re-boot of anything can be tricky in finding an angle that makes it relevant. I feel like this is going to either be incredibly awesome, or incredibly bad. Looking forward to finding out.
