You guys--- along with Maine ... RULE
We had a Red Lobster for about 10 months before it went out of business. We also had a Weathervane which is a smaller seafood chain. They made it about 2 years before dropping. It's hard to beat seafood that came off the boat yesterday. I had it last night. Fish & Chips, Clamcakes, and a stuffie. Just doesn't get any better.

I love Outback but it is pricey and the wait is frustrating. I haven't been there in a while. Maybe I'll get some of my buddies together and go back there soon. Sizzler is just not nearby where I live. There was one but they closed the branch and opened a freegin bank! I could go after work. I think they have made a comeback. It depends on the manager. I think they are individually owned and run. I never plan on dessert. I just go wild on the buffett if they have good stuff.

Pizzeria Uno used to be pretty big with me and my fiends when we were in college 10 yrs ago. They used to serve burgers and pasta but have added seak to compete with Outback and Applebees who stole a lot of their customers. I used to go to Chilli's with my ex-girlfriend and her family a lot when I was dating. It was ok but I never felt the need to go back. There once was a chain named Beefsteak Charlies around here and I have to say I was not impressed with it at all. Only salad and shrip at the buffett, not as good as Sizzler. My buddies only wanted pitchers of beer. The food was secondary to them.

Get a couple of Big Macs and some large fries, wash it all down with a large Coke.

          Problem solved.

Seriously though, I rarely frequent those upper-class fast food chains, simply because they cost as much as real authentic independent restaurants with superior food and bigger portions.

I mean, I have gone to many of those listed, Applebee's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc... I'm not hating on them, they do offer some good stuff.

But I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about.

I went with a friend to Applebee's. We both had the rib-eye steak dinner. It was tasty, no doubt, but the portion was rather small, the steak almost looked like it came from a rodent, it was that small, lol. Needless to say, the tab was $65 which included beer...add an extra 15% for tip.

That's an expensive meal for two at a fast food type restaurant chain.

Now, lets switch this around...we have same scenario, two people ordering steaks. But this time it was at a world-class steakhouse in San Francisco. It's an Argentinian restaurant that serves Estancia-style high-grade beefs from both Argentina, Uruguay, and here in the States. it's called El Raigón.

            Welcome to El Raigon

            Home Page | Estancia

The steaks are cooked in these enclosed brick ovens with charcoal/wood. You can certainly choose what size steak you want, from Applebee's size, to monster cuts, lol. I'm telling you, once you eat here, well, something like Applebee's will taste like chewing tobacco, lol.

They also have great wines and beers.

The tab ended up being $75, ten dollars more than Applebee's, but well worth it.

Anybody been to a Rodeso Grill? It has brazilian style food and they come around with these skewers of all these different meats, and pinapple and stuff and just slice off what ever you want. If you don't want any you just wait a minute for the next guy to bring something else. They have a buffet, too. I think they are only in Denver and Salt Lake City, and probably not in Brazil, but very good. Something for everyone.

We don't eat out much anymore. My 3 kids can eat adult sized portions and a simple trip to McDonald's will set me back at least $30 or so.

I have also been fighting the battle of the bulge forever. I have not been blessed with high metabolism and the only serious excercise I get is either playing soccer in an adult league or when I coach my daughter's team which I can get about 2 or 3 days a week.

Thankfully, I've been able to drop about 25 unnecessary pounds and would like to lose about 10 more but I'm at a happy weight. The only successful weight maintenance program I've been able to follow is low carbohydrate. As much as I love the stuff, I stay away as much as possible.

Usually on a Saturday night, my wife will cook a killer filet mignon with a side of steamed broccholi, salad, or some other vegetable, we'll share a bottle of Cabernet, and the kids are happy eating pizza or something so we spend about $25 on a nice meal at home that would easily cost $100+ out.

I remember eating out at The Cheesecake Factory a few months ago and ordered a salad from the menu for people watching their weight. That salad could have fed 4 or 5 people and I remember telling the waiter if this was their weight watching salad, I'd hate to see their normal salad.

There is a place here (a chain still) called Johnny Carinos that is really good.
Love Carino's. I can never eat it all, and always take half home. Nice price for two good meals and the atmosphere is nice.

I wouldn't call those places "fast food" though, just franchises.

There is still a Chi Chis in Nashville. Last time I ate there it was good.

However my vote goes to Texas Roadhouse.

If you really wanted to pillage a place around here there are two places I can think of.

One is called "The Golden Corral" that is a free for all buffett. I see 400 lb plus people come in there and go at it. There is also a place that is a steakhouse but I can't remember the name (not Western Sizzlin or anything like that) but for one price, you could sit back and pile down 30 steaks if you wanted to. Not the best cut of beef but for the price you can get your money's worth if you stay away from all of the other junk they serve.

Really vaguely Mike. I recall what the actor looked like and always the line, "All the Sangria you can drink!"

This may bring back memoires Mike:

                            Never tried Sangria ...

It kind of looks like fruit punch with booze.

It's a sweet wine with fruit added to it.
