So, here I lay, with my ipad on the hospital style bed at the physical therapy facility.
You know the story
But I only wrote in a follow up post that it turned out my left ankle had a stress fracture (absolutely no idea how I managed that). And that was why My right foot and ankle was pretty much ready for duty and my left was still in lots of pain.
I am told that the fracture is not a weight bearing problem. That is, putting weight on it will not make it worse even if it hurts. It is healing and overall feels better.
So, I am working on getting the ankles and legs stronger (compensating for being off of it a lot in the hospital and therapy facility) and getting wrap treatments to bring down swelling.
I've only been here two weeks but it seems like forever. I miss home and I miss making boxes for you all. I am not sure when I will get out. They want to make sure I am far along enough to not only walk better but climb the stairs I have at my house.
I was taken to the cardiologist today though and he is very pleased. The medicine is keeping the atrial fibrillation under control, keeping the heart rate and blood pressure down. There was talk in the beginning of doing a stop/start shock to my heart. This would be where they would knock me out, stop the heart with a shock and start it up again in a way that would have regular rhythm. It was done to my father years ago. But things are going so well with the medicine there is no need for that (thank goodness).
So, as Arnold would say "I'll be back"
But for the time being. I am stuck with a bunch of nurses and therapists (some of them cute, all pretty cool, the very few male ones are just cool
) and my poor roommate who is here because he had a leg amputated below the knee. He still has bouts of stump and phantom pains that can get pretty intense, even with the pain medication. He's a good guy and it's getting somewhat better for him too.
