I have everyone beat. We have 9 cats, 3 dogs and 3 rabbits. We are fortunate they all pretty much get along with each other. I have two cats that fight pretty bad with each other and we have to keep them seperated but for the most part, all the cats, dogs and rabbitt's get along.

I use to have a cat my ex partner gave him away when our daughter was born, because she was worried the cat would sleep on her face and smother her,i was so gutted when i came home from work and found Charlie gone,it was like a member of my family had died.

I like most guys always dreamed about being surrounded by ***** (please excuse the other term for cat if that offends anyone here) some day. However, This was not the way that I had really imagined it was going to be though. As a kid I had a dog and he passed at an very old age. Then some years later one of my sister's dog had puppies and she was wanting to give them to good homes. Being the softee (sucker) that I am I took one. He turned out to be a really great companion. Unfortunately, He died of Pneumonia after have living a pretty good life. I said at the time that I was not going to get any more pets to replace those that I had lost. I just hate the thought of an animal dying as like human life it is a reality that we all must deal with eventually like it or not. So to make a short story even longer. I now have 6 cats. There is Baby Kitty (not a baby anymore), Angel (yeah right), Spot, Phantom, Boo Boo and Hootie (she looks like an owl hence forth the name). I never ever hated cats, but I never imagined that I would actually own one some day let alone 6 of them. They are like family. The story goes that someone dropped off a stray female unaltered of course. I just hate hoosiers, losers and idiots that do stuff like that. I noticed it (I did not know if she was a male or female at the time) coming around through the property here in my home in Missouri from time to time. Please keep in mind that I never owned a cat before in my whole life. Had really no idea as to what to expect. So once again my heart went out and I started feeding it. I know NOW (bad idea) if you are not wanting to make a friend or keep as a pet. I did not really understand that at that time. I just figured that it would be hungry and it/she was. So I fed it/her and she started coming around more and more and well you get the picture. Needless to say it was not long before an unaltered male came onto the scene that someone more than likely abandoned and he showed up to "take care" of her if you know what I mean. It was not long after that she was producing 4 kittens per batch on average like clock work. As one may imagine I had to eventually draw the line some where. She was still too afraid of humans at the time for me to actually take her to a vet and have her fixed. She would let me pet her on the head, but still afraid to some degree. I did not want to get clawed on. I had no idea that cats produced like rabbits. Live and learn. I could go on and on, but I do not want to bore any of you guys and gals any more than I may already have. To wrap this up story up. I kept some of the baby kittens, and called a reliable and trustworthy NON KILL animal rescue group to help me out with the rest. I would have loved to keep them all. However, there was just no way that I could give them all the love and attention that they all deserved. The six I have now costs me a small bundle in food, litter, vet bills etc. I try not to think of it in terms of $$ though. They are worth it to me. It just hurts a little when I think of all the more Mego's that I could have bought. I rest well knowing that the rest have been fixed and all eventually went to loving homes and none of them went to a kill shelter. I still have the six as they are like family members now. Well, almost. not quite that close though. They may be all cute and cuddly, but I still have boundaries. They are all taken care really well I might add. I have did a great job in spoiling each and every one of them rotten to the core. I have no one to blame but myself.

THE END - Finally or should I say finale.

I must admit I am really amazed at all of the cat lovers here thus far. When I first seen the thread title I thought here we go. I figured it would all be cat bashers and cat haters. I see now that I was wrong. Perhaps Mego collecting and Cat collecting have a tie in somewhere?

I have an overweight 7 year old female Siamese. My wife had a black cat that died shortly after we moved last year. As a kid I had dogs, but do not have the patience or time for dogs right now. Cats are much more self sufficient. I like how we can go away for a few days, leave the cat with food, water and a clean litter box.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I just look at it as trying to do what is right. I look at animals as having lives to. They breathe, sleep, eat, drink, love and feel pain like we all do. I am happy to see that there are others here such as yourself in this world that also appreciate the true meaning of life. As you mentioned the rewards are indeed worth while. They are such loving creatures wanting to merely be loved in return. That really isn't asking for a whole lot IMO. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

We have 4---Kat(big fat one, never meows, just chirps), Fergus the baby cat hates people always snuggled up to any of the other cats, Lacey the female kind of cranky her and Fergus are always a team getting into trouble together, last but not least Robert Smith the blind cat, always trying to be playful can run with the others-sometimes into walls, when the cats knock something down they will run and he will end up not seeing us coming and when he gets lost in the basement he will meow and anyone of the cats will go get him and lead him up.

We had a cool cat that adopted us when we moved in. His name was Scrappy cause he liked to eat bunnies and was a tough outdoor cat. He just wandered inside one day, hissed at our three dogs, and proceeded to eat their food. They weren't even sure what to do.
We got attached really quick. He had really big feet, and panted like a lion. He was really cool, but we had to put him down this winter. The vet said he had a thrombo embolism which is basically a horrible blood clot that paralyzed him. Poor guy. I dedicate this little post to him.. RIP, Scrappy Oh, and now we have mice in our barn, and Scrappy resides on our bookshelf, with McTee our other cat that died.
