I just read this over on Facebook!

It hit me completely from out of left field and I think I'm in a state of shock.

I knew that he had troubles with addiction from years ago, and that he had started drinking again. As well as the heart troubles he had a couple of years ago.

But I never suspected that he was battling depression!

I'd heard of a couple of instances where he ran afoul of the cops in NY, but they were relatively minor offenses in the grand scheme of things.

He never struck me as the type to take himself out, but I guess that you never can tell.

My condolences go out to his wife and kids; the poor things must be going out of their minds wondering what was going through his mind at the time.

RIP Robin. I'll miss your special brand of insanity.

I'm very sad. A deep loss to many of us who were touched by his voice and skills. I have dealt professionally with others' emotional concerns for many years. Can not imagine what he must have been going through. May his legacy forever live on. I will always be personally touched by "Dead Poets Society" and "Fisher King"; my mentor used his work in "Good Will Hunting" as a therapist's character basis for down-to-earth therapeutic relationships. I am thankful for the good work he has been able to do in this world through his acting skills and prime acting opportunities. All kindness to his friends and family.

Very sad that a man who made millions laugh, could not find inner peace in his life. Such a shame...R.I.P

The sad clown. He's really a perfect example. There's always been a sadness behind his smile. I'm still completely floored by this however.

Heard the news as I was watching Chris Matthews. Completely and utterly stunned. One of THE funniest comedians that this world will ever see. Very sad news. It's going to be interesting to see how the late night shows are going to handle it. Letterman was a huge fan and friend of Robin's. Ferguson has dealt with drug and alcohol problems in the past and I think he was a friend of Robin's too. I do know this...you will NEVER see the likes of this kind of comedian/actor/artist again.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                      The beauty that surrounds them
                      Isn't it a pity".

He shot a movie here in my town in Alberta. He was super-nice to everyone here who made an effort to meet him. (RV)

My Pap thought his Mork was one of the funniest things he ever saw. My personal favorite of his was Jumanji, and let's not forget the Genie from Aladdin.
Sad news to hear, really sad.

What a terrible tragedy...he was able to make everyone happy but himself. May he find peace at last.
