    Good Friday

I was raised catholic and was even an altar boy for about 5 years (age 12 to 17). I usually get ready for Easter by cornering the market on yellow PEEPs so my Good Friday meal is burritos, and peeps for dessert!
"I want you to tell all your friends about me"
    "Who, who are you?"
    "I'm Batmex!"

      Peeps !!!!!!!
Made in Allentown or Bethlehem PA
Once, a few years ago we had a shortage of them in Jersey.
You had to go to PA to get them (which was no big drive anyway)

As far as I know, it isn't considered a sin or anything to not fast or eat meat on Friday if your Catholic. It's just one of those strange traditions that have been passed down through the ages. They say that fasting is supposed to make you more spiritual...it just makes me hungry.

Whale would be considered fish....if it comes from the water, you can eat it (shrimp, crabs, whatever). You basically are not supposed to eat beef, pork, poultry, lamb, but eggs are ok (don't ask me why an egg is ok but chicken is not, I didn't write the rules).

I do remember a few years ago, St. Patrick's day fell on a Friday during Lent and the pope allowed meat to be eaten. You just can't expect to celebrate St. Patrick's day without your cornbeef and hash.
There is Nothing Biblical about Fasting on Good friday.....nor is it a Sin to eat meat or listen to music.....Catholics do the no meat as Tradition and respect nothing more.....It will get you no closer to God if you skip your Steak and Beer today.
Those are traditions handed down. That many who don't even practice their religion try to do.......

I bet you looked at the calendar a year in advance and always made sure your sweeping chores fell on those dates. Well, until you got busted by your parents for being so sneaky.

I remember one Good Friday --- MANY years ago ......

Me and my older brother got up and left early to do some fishing....

We both forgot it was Good Friday, and he bought us both Steak Sandwiches for lunch..

So we're both chomping away, suddenly he says--- SOAB !!!!!! It's Good Friday !!! we're gunna go to hell.

After a second, we were like--- meh
              and kept eating

That night we got home and he told my Ma ..
She said, YOU GOT STEAK SANDWICHES AND DIDN'T BRING ME ONE ?

              True story
