OCD

Kinda surprised this thread didn't get more replies

Some of us have our OCD enough under control to know better than to even open a Topic titled "OCD," fully aware that if we do so, we will be compelled to comment. And some of us only fool ourselves in thinking we can resist until... now.

I probably have a different form -- more OD than OCD. There's really nothing Compulsive about my obsessiveness, but perhaps not so serious as to be a "Disorder," either.

I know, right?! I almost quoted every message in this thread back to each person with spelling and grammar corrections. Everything must be in order!

That's not necessarily OCD -- or, at the very least, you are controlling it very well. Otherwise, you would be unlikely to resist doing just what you said. But if that actually IS OCD, then mine is a chronic case.

However, as far as everything being in order, I am compelled to point out that your post really should have been written with each word ordered first by word-length and secondly in alphabetical order. I cannot resist any longer... I need to fix it:

...although the TRUE test is that anyone with unmanageable OCD will likely be busy proofreading that I missed no words in the previous post, and that they are all truly in the order stated. I would not be surprised to also get a comment on the deleted punctuation.

So, I'm just going to sit back and wait for those comments now...

Same here... Guess we're all a little crazy ... but then again... who isn't in this modern age of stress and societal turmoil?

Or perhaps it's us who are sane, and the rest of the world is mad?

Nah, that was just me making fun of myself and OCD. I learned a while ago to laugh at it/me, it's easier than the alternative.
The real thing and how it works is very complex and difficult to articulate or summarize. I read an article last year by a
journalist for the Toronto Star who has been an alcoholic all his life. As I said, I used alcohol frequently as medication, so
I can relate. He said something like "Most people who struggle with alcoholism have a feeling that something is just not quite right."
It's not an exact quote, but it sums things up for me. I have never felt completely at ease and I probably never will. That is at
the root of it. Irrational anxiety. Something somewhere is not quite right.
