Is it just me or is soda pop not fizzy anymore?

It seems like just as soon as you poor it from the can and it hits your glass it goes flat. When I was a kid, soda would continue to bubble and fizz. You could listen to it like Rice Krispies. Seems like the last couple of years, soda went flat.

    Sodas I've tried.

Diet Coke. Flat and sweet. It's been tasting like New Coke. It used to be my favorite. I noticed the last couple of years it just keeps getting flatter.
Diet Pepsi. Same as Diet Coke but even flatter and sweeter. Yuck!
Diet Dr Pepper. Flat and tastes like medicine. Blech!
Coke Zero. Best of the ones I've tried but still not as fizzy as I remember.

Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Hmm. Everything you listed is a diet beverage. Perhaps it has to do with how artificial sweeteners affect the gas solubility.

Nothing like a nice cold Coke in a glass bottle. Ever notice how the commercials always show a glass bottle, but they are rarely sold that way anymore?

Coke in a glass and bottled in Mexico is best, lightly chilled...
Your location is listed as Netherworld, so if that's Netherlands it might be tough to get Mexican Coke

Coke in glass bottles is best! Really any soda is better from glass. Here in southern middle TN you can still get SunDrop in a glass bottle and it's awesome. When I was younger every gas station sold cold drinks in glass bottles. They were the fat squatty 16oz. bottles and that was the best Dr Pepper I've ever had.

I stopped drinking all sodas 10+ years ago, so no carbonated stuff for me, but my son got a Soda Stream for Christmas. You want carbonated, grab one of those and you can make anything fizzy.

Diet Coke has been my fav Soda since I was a kid. Can't stand drinking Coffee or Tea or anything hot and regular sodas with sugar, give me terrible stomach cramps. But, I've always loved me some Diet Coke. It's also been the only thing that can put a dent in my Migraines. But the Last maybe 2 or 3 years It's just not been as fizzy or good as it used to be.

Oh yeah, Mexican Cokes are the best. I have to watch my sugar, but I get one of these once in a while for a treat. I throw it in the freezer for a bit before drinking. It tastes like pop did when I was a kid, glass bottle, sweetened with real cane sugar. Tastes like heaven!

I had 2 Dr Peppers in glass bottles today. Both were fantastic!

Yeah, those Mexican Cokes are the best...and they are all over the place, now! I live in NYC and see them everywhere here in the past year or so...even at the major chain stores (and Mexican Pepsi in glass bottles). You might expect this to be so. But... In addition to that, when I go to southern Indiana, Mexican Coke, Sprite and Fanta in glass bottles is all over the place.

I'm curious--are you taking any medication for your migraines? Like Topamax?

I've had migraines since childhood and hurt my stomach on Excedrin when I was little. So, ever since then I can't handle anything stronger than Tylenol. Never heard of Topamax before. Had some pretty severe side effects when I looked it up. My Mom used to take these shots for her Migraines years ago. Can't remember the name. Worked briefly but the rebound headaches and side effects were far more severe than what they were supposed to be treating. So, she stopped taking it.

For me, it's diet Coke and some dark chocolate.

Well, the reason I ask is that one of the side effects of Topamax is a change in sense of taste with people experiencing the very same reaction you are having with carbonated beverages.....

Wowzers, that is an odd coincidence.
