    RIP Russell Johnson, The Professor

Only Ginger and Mary Ann left.

Not only was he in Gilligan's Island but in a few sci-fi horror movies I remember (This Island Earth)

I will miss his quiet reassuring confidence as the Professor.

Gilligans Island is one of the few shows where I really liked each and every cast member. Great memories watching that show for years in the afternoons. http://www.tmz.com/2014/01/16/profes...ssell-johnson/

The professor carried that show. Without him to supply the plot exposition, no Gilligan episode would have progressed past the intro.

And Alex Ross was dead-right. He was the PERFECT choice to play Reed Richards.

Interesting that TV Land is starting to show Gilligan's Island tonight.

Wee, I'm so impressed you knew the professor's full name--they just mentioned it on last night's Me-TV episode.

Johnson's later years were busy making personal appearances and volunteering with AIDS fundraising following his son's death.

TV Land is playing Gilligan again? 'Bout damn time.

Anyone remember the Skipper's real name? I do!

Gilligan's Island was an afternoon staple after school everyday. The good ol' days...

I wonder why you didn't see him in a lot of other stuff?

He lived on Bainbridge Island, right across the water from Seattle.

                            RIP

he did a some sci fi before Gilligan and lots of TV before and after. This Island Earth, Attack of the Crab Monsters and It came from Outer Space off the top of my head. He made Gilligan's Island perfect, great straight guy for all the nonsense going on there. RIP.
