1- No, I live over 750 miles from where I grew up and lived the first 23 years of my life.

2-N/A. Moved for a job, stayed because I started a family.

3-Relocating is mostly for the young, IMO. However, I have had offers that made me stop and think a bit.

1- Do you live within 3 hours of where you grew up?

2-If you do, would you move?

3-Again if you do, how important is that location in deciding about possibly moving? (vs new job, romance, etc.)

      1-yes
      2-yes
3-I would really like to but financially it would be a bad move. Small town with two traffic lights, nearest city about fourty miles away....

          1. Yes - less than 3 hours..more like 20 mins

          2. Yes - I am ready to relocate, need a change

          3. Not a deciding factor. I grew up 20 mins outside of downtown Seattle and have always lived within 30 mins of where I grew up, with the exception of a few years we lived in MT as a kid. My wife and I have been talking relocation.

            1. Yes
            2. Would really have to be worth my while... Maybe when I retire.
            3. Very important. Wouldn't want to be that far away from Family. Siblings, kids etc...

              1. Yep, I live in the small town I grew up in (from 7 years old on) and 20 minutes away from the city where I was born.

              2. I'd move, but it would have to be a really good reason (great job opportunity, etc)

              3. Moving far away would mean my kids having to go to a different school, and my immediate family live in the same town as me, so these things would weigh heavily in any moving decisions.

                  1. I live where I grew up, but not where I was born. Moved here when I was six.
                  2. Yes, I have moved on two occasions, but always come home.
                  3. The opportunity is a bigger deal than the location.

1- Do you live within 3 hours of where you grew up? I have never lived farther than 20 miles from the town in which I was born and never more than ten miles from my childhood home. My husband has me beat. From our home property, he can see the only two other houses in which he has lived.

2-If you do, would you move? It would take a lot to get us to move. My immediate family all live within five miles and Ed's immediate family all live next door. Plus, given all the work we have done to establish our private airfield and my work with local history, I cannot see us moving.

3-Again if you do, how important is that location in deciding about possibly moving? (vs new job, romance, etc.) Last year, we did toss around the idea purchasing a small public airfield about 50 miles north, but we didn't dare make the leap to airport as occupation rather than hobby. I told Ed that if we would ever move further away than that, there had better be something super-duper fabulous nearby,...I was thinking Yellowstone. In all honesty, we built this house ten years ago with our entire lives in mind; wide doorways for wheelchairs, accessible showers, etc. I imagine we will die here.

I live 15 miles from where I grew up. it's not because I wanted to stay necessarily it just the way life worked out. my wife was already established in her career as I was finishing college so I found a job and started my career here too.
I would move, if it was necessary. not a big fan of moving in general but if I had to because of finding work or something I would. thing is for me, and my wife, we have put many years and big money into literally re-creating our house and property into what we wanted, so it would be hard to then just walk away from it and start over somewhere else.

I was born and raised in Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. I have always lived here and would never move away. My city is perfect with only 120,000 people. Its big enough to have everything except the big city problems like crime etc. I work 4 days on and 4 days off and can get to work in about 5 minutes from where I live. My house cost $92,000 and in a big city would probably run around $450,000 or more. If I want to go to a big city I just drive 7 hours south to Minneapolis. I am very happy just where I am.

                            1. Yes, I live closely.
2 and 3. I'd move in a heartbeat, if possible thousands of miles away. West or East, take your pick.

If I could, I would move back into my home town. After being in a city (not a large city, but still big to me) I have had enough of it. I just wish there was more industry in the south to make that possible.
