I just bought a YorkShire Terrier Puppy

    Hey Guys,

I just bought a YorkShire Terrier for my son. My son has been bugging me for a Dog for a very long time. Because of the small house I live in,.. a bigger dog really wouldn't work out to well. My Mom had a litter of puppies,.. & she hooked me up with one for him.

I've never really had a Dog,.. outside of my parents house, when I was a kid. I am a bit nervous,.. but excited at the same time. I wanna make sure he is very well loved, & gets all the attention he needs. I bought 3 Books today.. With alittle luck perhaps I can teach him some tricks & whatnot. I'm kinda wondering who I bought him for now...

He's 7weeks old right now,.. he can't come home until a week or 2,.. because with smaller Puppies, it's better for them. I have been taking my boy over there almost every day to visit with him.

We Named him Chewy . Because the breed kinda looks like Wookies,.. thought it would be funny. I Guess you have to give the Dog like a full name or something,.. for his Papers.. I was thinking ''Chewy the 10inch Wookie'' .

Anyhow,.. I'll take some pics of him, & post him when he comes home.

Congrats on the puppy, can't wait to see the pics. When I wa sin highschool we had a Yorkie . They are smart little dogs.

Remember to get the dog in a obedience class ASAP. This will help set the boundaries for the dog, and help eliminate any future discipline issues. If there is a Petsmart near you they have some great classes to choose from and they are all at $90.00 a class.

                  Yorkies are really great dogs.

You really don't need to register it with the AKC unless you intend on breeding the dog. We registered our first Golden Retriever and never really felt like it meant anything other than to say my dog is a pure breed and she was never bred.

My brother has a Yorkie and I don't know if this is common of the breed but they are extremely loyal dogs and they have a tendency to be full of energy. My brother's dog will fetch a tennis ball for you all day long without ever stopping. When my brother leaves for work, he jumps up on a piece of furniture with a view outside and waits all day for my brother to return home.

I don't know much about the breed but he said that they were bred to chase rats and mice out of the house which doesn't surprise me based on their speed and constant energy. But I think it is a really good choice of dogs.

Great dogs, had two growing up both lived well into their teens. They are incredibly loyal, fearless and loving dogs. One of mine attacked a German Shepard once for looking at me.

                          Yorkie Terrorists...

They are wonderful dogs -- the best of both worlds: little dog with a BIG attitude. You're gonna fall in love, real quick.

I had the honour of having one for a companion, and he went for 16 wonderful years.

Fasten your seatbelts! The ride is about to begin.
