hmm, trying to think of something that would shock mego museum members.

As fanatical as I am about collecting wgsh megos, I never played with them as a child and other than Mr. Myx, I have NO memory of ever seeing one. Ever. And I was a late seventies, early eighties action figure kid.

A little less than four years ago I had access to a hoarders house where the whole second floor was floor to ceiling 60s, 70s, 80s toys including hundreds of megos, joe, and smdm and the like...which i bought and resold on the cheap...but I didn't catch the Mego fever till AFTER this stuff passed threw my hands(!)

I don't like to see my photo on this or any website, no facebook, but if you scroll through two thirds of that crappy Benicio Del Toro The Hunted movie, I'm an extra in a suit and tie with glasses who passes in front of Tommy Lee Jones at multiple angles while he is searching for Benicio who hides in a sewer hole.

Most people that know me think I'm some kind of ultra conservative, but I'm not. On every variation of political spectrum tests, I fall dead in the center. I take a certain pride in that.

I've been with people who claim we've had ghost, UFO, and Bigfoot sightings together. I'm not so sure we have. I could go into the most haunted house in the world and there would be nothing but crickets. I'm essentially a skeptic about most things, despite being a Judeo-Christian deist.

I've never been a coffee drinker.

I used to chain smoke for over twenty years. Two packs a day or so. Haven't had a cigarette in maybe four years.

I used to swim constantly as a teen, but almost drowned on a float trip a couple months ago. It was a close call--got out of the water cut up and bloody from the current tumbling me around on the rocks on the river bottom. I've been having drowning dreams lately and they're not cool.

Never married nor had kids, although people seem to think I'd be a great husband/father. I'm not convinced. I'm kind of selfish with my time to the point of not even having a pet. The only plants I have are bamboo, because they need no attention to speak of.

I've never looked at a Jack Kirby page and thought, "Man, I wish I could draw like that." There's an element to his art that people love, and it's wholly lost on me. Nice guy, a gentleman, a real imaginative soul, but in my eyes it's only slightly better than goofy animal cartoons.

I had written more here but deleted it, because even I am getting bored reading what I have to say.

I was born blind in my left eye. I had no idea until third grade when the teacher was doing an example of depth perception and perspective and had everyone cover their left eye, and then their right. Needless to say I freaked out a little bit.

These days I prefer cats over dogs.

Had an out of body experience when I was 7 years old after a pretty nasty go cart wreck. Went face first into a parked van. Earlier that same day I had almost drowned in a pool. Being 7 sucked.

I truly believe that I have sat face to face with someone who was possessed. During one particular conversation I actually witnessed a physical transformation of the persons face.

I didn't get seriously interested in comics until 1986 when I was in the hospital for double pneumonia. Marvel's Transformers and GI Joe were the titles that got me hooked.

I haven't had a drink in over five years (more responsibilities than being a teetotaler) but if I had the time I'd still enjoy a night full of Jack Daniels straight up on the rocks (no need to ruin good booze with soda) and a pack of Camel non filters. All by myself in a poorly lit back corner of a crowded bar.

Got roped into being "Goofy" at a radio appearance back in '94. All was well and good other than it was a real Disney costume and I kept hitting heads on the top of the head when posing for pictures. Remember that blind in one eye thing? Yeah, Depth perception is a real B.

The most fun job I've ever had was selling dishes for Mikasa in Branson, MO. Had a great crew, got to throw plates and got to hassle tourists.

Produced Bill Clinton's last Governors address to the state, (KARN - Little Rock '92) weekly broadcast after he was elected President.

Got my "radio name" (Jim Buchanan) when I was a board operator for Arkansas Travelers baseball. The announcer ( Jim Elder, one of the best sports broadcasters I've ever known) couldn't pronounce Bumgardner to save his life. Ironic considering he was such a good sports announcer with all those crazy names. He stumbled through Bumgardner up and through the bottom of the 7th and then settled on "Buchanan" and kept it that way for the rest of the season. No matter when anyone would correct him, he just shrugged and kept on calling me Buchanan. It never bothered me and to this day its still one of my favorite radio stories.

My nickname all throughout Jr. High and High School was "Bogart" and it wasn't because I was a fan of Ms. Bacall's husband

I get more entertainment value out of the cartoons on Nick Jr. and Disney Jr. than from most prime time programming.

Here's another thing about me: I don't believe in UFOs or Bigfoot, or ghosts, but I do believe in spirits, (ghosts are those things in the movies and campfire stories that people make up), and I steer clear of those threads here on MM. Sorry guys...I don't put down anyone else's right to believe, but I am entitled to my own opinion.

            • My favorite ABBA songs are: "Does Your Mother Know", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Bang-A-Boomerang" and of course "Take A Chance On Me".

            • I saw the movie "Ghost Dog". It was okay.

            • A hotdog-water popsicle is the most revolting thing I can imagine eating. (Well done, my friend.)

            • I have experienced deja vu many times, but I believe the science research shows the most likely cause is the brain erroneously processing new experiences as remembered experiences.

            • I strongly and happily identify myself as a dog person.

            • Now that I think of it, "The Winner Takes It All" is sooo epic too.

            • Somehow "Bad Grandpa" is the movie I'm most anticipating right now.

My favorite sound in the world is a vacuum cleaner.
              It relaxes me right away.
Not when I do it myself, but when I hear it in another room.
Combine this with me soaking in a bath tub, and I'm super relaxed.

My Freudian analysis says that I probably have a "return to the womb" feeling, as my Mom used to use the vacuum cleaner a lot when she was pregnant.

              Or maybe I'm just weird...

                I see dead people...

I worked ambulance for many years and about two years after I left the service I started having dreams/nightmares about people I wasn't able to save.
I would see their faces and they would ask me why I didn't save them.It sucked big time so I did what any rational person would,I drank heavily to get rid of the dreams...LOL

Needless to say it didn't work...I know what it is I was suffering from post traumatic blah blah...I never saught help for my problem.I dealt with it for many years and with the help of my wife I overcame it.Well pretty much...It still happens once in awhile but maybe once a year the dreams not the drinking...LOL

                Other shocking things let see.
My oldest daughter is 16 doing half days in high school and half days in college.
My 11 year old son is in grade seven and has a reading / comprehension level of somebody in grade 11.
My seven year old daughter is autistic.
My wife was diagnosed with and severly suffers from fibromyalgia
I work for the city in the sewer department and believe it or not I love my job and the people I work with.
Last but not least my laptop has been missing an H for three years so the ability for me to even spell any word that has an h in it is amazing.
Any way thats me in a nutshell.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

I have never seen the movie Top Gun.
I have been in a plane crash, car crash, & motorcycle crash, yet I still live.
Sunshine and bright lights make me sneeze.
If I could get away with it, I would still Trick or Treat.
I am a heavy metal headbanger, but I also listen to Adele.
Needles (syringes) make me pass out. Seriously, out cold. The irony is that my blood type is the highly sought after O-, so I give blood every chance I get and they usually accommodate my loss of consciousness. Its not a good feeling at all.

I have never eaten a Tomato, just can't eat one but like the taste of tomato ketchup, soup and tomato based foods.
I don't like Strawberries but will eat strawberry yogurts and have strawberry sauce on ice cream.(It's the same with cherries)
I have never been on a plane, own a passport and never been out of the UK.
Not a fan of heights but climb trees for my job and hold on to the handle inside of the car if we go over very high bridges.
                      I have seen a UFO.
Not a fan of deep water,so going on a boat or ship is a no-no.
Sometimes I talk to myself lol but I put this down to thinking out loud.

My grand-niece is like that. Her mom recorded the sound of a vacuum cleaner on her phone, and holds it up to her ear and rocks her to sleep w/ that sound. That's the only thing that works for her, not lullabies, not riding in the car...just that. And I've seen it, she goes right to sleep!

Well, not that shocking because nobody knows me!

But here's some weird stuff. Sorry, I always get wordy.
                            • I spent all of grade school living in the Cascade Mountains (visited alot before that). My dad was the Principal and ONLY teacher of the small church school which had at the MAX 15 students (usually about 12) for the whole school, which ran from first grade to high school. Being as I also looked alot and acted alot like Laura Ingalls, it was literally like Little House on the Prarie in the mountains. It was a blast.
I always really hoped to see Bigfoot, but all the settlements were too close to a noisy freeway. I didn't even get to see any cougars or bobcats (plenty of bear and skunk though).

                            • I rode my little red bike through the woods to my Grandmas house. If I wore my parka, I had a hood too.

                            • I met Marty of Sid & Marty Krofft once. He looked at me like he thought I was strange.

                            • I had a stalker once.

                            • I worked graveyard at a small hotel which had crappiest dregs of worst criminal activity. I'd get soooo annoyed with cars full of hoodlums driving down to the back to sneak in, so I'd lock up and march down there, hide out, and pouce out on the stairwell (4 floors) to chase them out with my huge maglight. I was the ONLY employee on the whole premises with NO way to call for backup (phone didn't reach) and no cameras. Lucikly, they were always like three stooges criminals, and were quite bemusedly affable, often staring at my bewbies and hitting on me as I chased them out. Once we had a ganster problem though (they were always carrying guns), and I harrased a group of like 5 of them at 3am. Luckily they were respectful or I wouldn't be typing this now. 0-0 I also marched into a room in the night full of a scuzzy partying motorcycle gang. They told me they'd keep it down and I had female balls (it was actually stupidity).

                            • I have 17 pairs of retro resin grapes, and some pieces in storage for projects. It seems like too much and not enough at the same time.

                            • I HATE to date. I'd rather meet a grizzly in the woods (to copy another poster). I've always been like "AGAIN?! But we just saw each other LAST night! *SIGH*. "

                            • I do not find Seth Rogen funny. AT ALL.

                            • I like to sing loudly whilst showering. Once I was wailing to 80s music (Journey, I think), and heard this horrible caterwauling coming from the open window. I peeped out, and there was a cat sitting below literally caterwauling along with me.

                            • I've been unemployed for quite some time. That's why I don't post more in the toys section. I can't afford to buy them right now.

                              Nothing too shocking or weird:

I have never seen an episode of Dr. Who or Space:1999.
Living in the South I can't stand sweet tea (or unsweet for that matter). I make a face like I'm drinking cough medicine if I accidently drink some.
I used to drink coffee when I was around 6-8 years old. I haven't had any since.
I've never tried smoking, not one puff.
I also don't drink. I saw what being a drunk does to a family close up.
I almost lost my brother when he was a senior in high school because the reason above.
I do have a couple of ABBA lp's.
