Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9 Talk.

I'm not the biggest Robb fan, but man that was brutal. I've had the books for a couple yrs, but still haven't gotten around to them. Still, I had spoiled (not soiled) myself, so I knew what was coming.

Even so, as the ep went on, I kept getting more anxious and my heart was almost jumping out of my chest. If that's not good drama, don't know what is..

For a while now the Robb & Crew plot line has felt a bit dragged out, but did those Twins jerks really have to kill the wolf?! Jerks!!!

At least Grey Wind got to go out in a blaze of glory in the books, instead of just getting killed in his pen. And yes, the last couple episodes tended to drag things out a bit, likely because they wanted to make sure that the Red Wedding was saved for the 9th penultimate episode (where the big stuff usually happens on this show).

Finally watched it tonight... When I saw the guy shut the doors, I thought something was going down, but I didn't expect all that. I have been saying WOW for about 15 mins now. I thought maybe Catlyn was somehow going to be able to kill Frey and get out of there.

I just finished watching the episode and although I heard "something big happened and major deaths occurred" I made it the entire week without hearing anything else and after giving it much thought prior to seeing it , decided that Rob would be the best characters to go because HOLY CRAP, the Starks are boring and his story was going nowhere. I loved that the writers spent all this time crafting a character and building him up but they showed what happens when you take a calculated risk and fail

Now I know the Starks are made out to be the good guys most of the time and the show kind of wants you to root for them but, I'd much rather watch the Lannisters. Jamie has been the most compelling character all season and the second tier players like the Spider and Little Finger have been great to watch too. That isn't to say I don't like the Starks because Aria is probably my favorite character in the show next to Tyrion, but other than that there isn't a single Stark I'm interested in. Bran's story came to a halt and hopefully the split will revive it, John Snow's actions aren't developed enough to seem plausible, and what happened to Theon? That's been one of the most intriguing stories this season and they don't show enough of him. Did he get castrated? Why is he being torrtured? Who's the dude doing all the torturing? More of that would be good. Once Catelyn met up with Rob and he had her arrested for treason that story line hit a wall and WOW, I couldn't stand his wife at all.

I think this episode played out so well because, if you haven't read the books, you certainly wouldn't have seen it coming but what's more is how violent it was and how long it lingered. They built the baby up for two episodes and then have her get stabbed right in the stomach is just brutal. Having the scene end there would have been enough but to go back one segment later and show Rob in the aftermath and Catelyn have the last thing she sees is her sons gutted was powerful stuff. I hardly ever go in for violence to that level but man, when it's done right it can be a very effective tool.

I also loved how the writes paralleled episode 8 and 9. In 8, we got the Lanister wedding that was horribly uncomfortable yet some how deeply touching with Tyrion standing up to the king, refusing the bedding ceremony, and keeping Sansa's honor intact and in 9 we get the fun and enjoyable Stark wedding that looks like a lot of fun, goes through with the (creepy) bedding ceremony, and ends in total horror.

what happened to Theon? That's been one of the most intriguing stories this season and they don't show enough of him. Did he get castrated? Why is he being torrtured? Who's the dude doing all the torturing?

\i am sure we will see more of what is happening with Theon next season. theguy torturing him is Roose Boltons ******* son. Bolton is the guy who gave the final killing stab to Rob

That is pretty brilliant analysis. I had not compared the episodes or thought of that. Maybe they were going for that when they scripted and shot them.

I have to say I am glad they killed Catlynn Stark her character has always annoyed me. Right to the end under the table with the knife instead of sliding up on Frey and killing him she grabs his wife. So glad she is dead. Next they have to kill John Snow, hate him too!

They should have ended the season with episode 9. I was unimpressed with episode 10.

Well obviously there wasn't going to be the shock of the Red Wedding but while 10 was much more subdued there was so much going on that it should be considered just as important to the series as the death of Rob. Episode 10 sets everything up for next season. Aria finally takes the steps into becoming um, what she becomes, Jamie returns home but his interaction with Cersi is limited to about a half a second so we still have to wait to see how he will be received, John gets shot with arrows and retruns to the wall injured, we find out Theon lost his sausage and his father doesn't care but his sister is coming to get him, Bran is going North of the Wall, so is Stannis, and Daenyeris about to get bogged down in political allegory after liberating all those slaves.....eh, so maybe her story is going to come to a screeching halt in Season 4 but still there was so much subtlety in the episode that it leaves you wanting more which is everything a finale should do. Sure it didn't have the action of episode 9 but it brought the intellectual side the show also offers. So many moving pieces, so manny possibilities. Aside from Aria finally extracting some small sort of revenge and her finally seeking out Jaqen, I thought the other highlights of the episode were Tyrion asking Cersei "How happy are you?" after she claimed that her children were her happiness and Varys asking Shae to leave for the good of the realm.
