Did you really eat that ???

What's the strangest thing that you have (knowingly) eaten ?
(I know that we supposedly eat approx 8 spiders a year when we sleep)
But of the Strange food that you know you ate how did it taste ?

I once had some Shark...It was nice
I also had some Octopus & Squid...not that good
I once swallowed a piece of chewing gum...I thought I was going to DIE.
Well I was only 8years old at the time.

    Shark, octopus, squid?

Dude, that's everyday food at any Mexican seafood restaurant, that's child's play, I eat that stuff in the form of mariscos de 'Siete Mares' at least once a week, lol.

        Frog legs
        Rabbit/Hare
        Snails (escargot)
        Crickets
        Ants
        Snake
        Alligator
        Deer
        Buffalo
        Turtle
        Pigeon

Worm...I tried that on a dare as a kid...I almost puked, lol.

Mmm, I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of other critters here and there, lol.

I've never eaten dog, cat, monkey, dolphin, or whale...and I'll never will.

Oh, I didn't know you were a Brit, my bad, lol.

Don't you guys eat fish n' chips all the time over there?

I know curry seems to be the norm there as well thanks to your Indian immigrants.

The worst rabbit I ever ate still had lead shot in it.

I'm not too partial to the really `out there` stuff, but have eaten shark in Australia.
Squid (prefer rings over the small `one bite` whole squid).
                    Black pudding (dried pigs blood).
                    Haggis.
                    A small stone.
                    Roll mop herring (horrible).
                    Swordfish steak.
                    Foie gras (ducks liver pate)(horrible).

                      I regularly eat blood Kishka...
At least once every few months-- mostly on the Holidays.
I guess you had to be brought up on it to like it.

                        My Weirdest?

Well, I'd have to break it down into two categories: Weirdest food at a restaurant, and Weirdest food on my own.

In a restaurant. About 10 years ago, I went to some horribly trendy/pretentious place in Chicago. There, I ordered the grilled sting ray. It was light and very flaky and surprisingly little taste to it. Given the choice, I'd much rather eat shark (one of my faves). That was the only time I saw sting ray on a menu, but I don't eat out a lot. I've eaten other stuff like conch, shark, turtle, alligator, frog's legs, squid, etc. But you can find those on a lot of restaurant menus.

On my own? Definitely a live cicada. Every 17 years they come out. Back in 1990, after my freshman year in college, I was dared by a bunch of friends to eat one live. After $100 was thrown in, I did it. Please note, that there was a significant amount of alcohol involved, plus the money. Because I didn't want a cicada flying around in my mouth, I quickly bit off the head and then tossed the rest in my mouth. It was crunchy, bland, then kind of gooey. It wasn't awful, but I wouldn't do it again unless I had too. This all came up because I told them about the time in high school that I ate a huge live moth for $20. The moth was nothing. It practically went to dust right away, although I was picking moth bits out of my mouth for the rest of the day.

Octopus is probably the weirdest thing I've eaten

Man, for a guy who lives in south Louisiana, most of the stuff you guys are mentioning (octopus, squid, shark, alligator, etc) are delicacies here in Louisiana. Alligator is awesome (blackened or fried).

I will try anything once. I am like that guy on Travel Channel (I think the show is called "No Reservations"). Some of the strangest stuff I have tried are camel, mountain oysters (good), boiled sheep nuts in Saudi Arabia(nasty), some monkey/raccoon looking thing in Panama (Kuda maybe), rattle snake (very good), buffalo, blood sausage, hog head cheese (awesome), and a BBQ'ed pig tongue (actually pretty good).

I will not turn my nose at anything before trying it once.

btw, you ever get a chance to eat hog head cheese, eat it you will love it. It is kind of like a goose pate' but made with stuff you do not want to know.

For meat, I think i'd eat just about anything -- except jellied garlic pigs feet.
I had some of that stuff, and imo it's pretty nasty.

                              The feet themselves wasn't bad....
But that clear garlic gelatin makes me hurl.
