Even just the smell of it cooking.
I love that stuff! It's GREAT BBQ'd. Thinking about it makes me hungry...

Forgot to say fermented shrimp paste, which is great with mangoes and tomatoes, but unless you grew up eating it, you would think it was too fishy.

I'd forgotten about that one. I didn't grumble either.

I wonder how many fathers here are willing to stand and be counted as having taken the occasional slurp

Don't be illnow.....I used to work with a guy that was born and brought up in India and he knew of my love for hot spicy food. So one day he brings in this paste in an unmarked jar he's been sent from India and says have some on toast or a cracker but I won't tell you how it's made until you've had some. I ate it on some toast and it was excellent stuff...spicy...hot...slighty fish flavoured and a really creamy paste texture not unlike pate. After I finished he told me how it was made...apparently fish ,once caught, are put in a jar, sealed and buried in the sand for a few days. The fish start to rot and maggots start eating the fish and eventually all that's left is the maggots who are now plump and juicy...lol. They now uncover the jar and all that remains are the maggots that have feasted on the fish and each other...which they now pulp and make a paste out of ....yum...suffice to say this was taken at face value so I don't know how true it was and I did have seconds.

Most of the things I have tried have already been mentioned

Squid-but only in the form of Calamari. I can eat that all day long.
    Venison-delicious if prepared properly
Buffalo-Mine was cooked like a roast. I thought it was good but a bit dry.
Rattlesnake-Excellent. Meat is tender and sweet.
Alligator-I've had this all kinds of ways from cooked gator on the bone to an alligator sausage. The sausage was really good.
Frog Legs and Escargots- Again, very good
    Conch-Fantastic if prepared right
Human Breast Milk-I admit I tried it....I was curious when the kids were born...actually not bad, not bad at all.

I don't remember that scene. Sadly, those little guys don't have much meat on them. I remember one time my brother made a comment that it smelled aweful and boy, my father got so upset. There is a gamey smell when you first start cooking the fruit bats.

    Anyone like limburger cheese?!
