I finally hit Five Guys Burgers...

Not too many Five Guys Burgers here in the Bay Area (only three). The closest one to me is in Hayward (15 miles from my house)...there's plenty of In N Out's around here on the other hand.
Well...let me start with the price...twice as much as In N Out. But to be fair, Five Guys' burgers are more massive, so it evens out.
I ordered the bacon burger (no cheese)...and a small order of fries, I did not order the large order of fries because it has a whopping 1400 calories (the bacon burger has about 800 calories in comparison, so it's diet food compared to the fries, lol), and I didn't feel like dropping dead of a heart attack right there, lol.
Well, I was amazed how big the burger was...so I proceeded to take a bite...well...I was disappointed. It was under-seasoned...the meat patty was almost flavorless...and it was a mushy burger. I could barely hold it in place, it almost disintegrated in my hands, very messy burger.
The bacon was good...but hey, it's bacon...bacon is bacon, lol.
The fries...well...I can tell they pack a ton of calories, they are greasy, mushy, they look like they were left in the sun for two days...having said that...they were tasty...better than the burger itself.
The establishment was half full...I went there at 1 pm, lunchtime...it was definitely not packed like In N Out.
How do I compared Five Guys Burgers to In N Out?
In N Out is the much fresher burger, you don't feel guilty eating it...definitely not greasy like Five Guys. In N Out burgers are smaller, but they are cheaper priced as well. In N Out burgers taste homemade, you can actually hold it down and enjoy it in your hands, lol. I do give the edge to Five Guys on the fries, they are nasty-looking, but they are tasty. My least favorite thing about In N Out are their fries (unless you order them Animal Style)...In N Out fires are fresh but not very flavorful in my humble opinion.
The verdict?
Not likely I will return to Five Guys unless one opens up in Oakland, and I will give it another shot.
But in the meantime...the fast food establishment that will continue to rule in the Bay Area for me...will continue to be In N Out.
P.S. I also love the independent burger joint here in Oakland, True Burger...that's my place too, lol.
