I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the smell of a freshly-opened Mego -- man, I can still remember it hitting me every time I opened one.

At a convention last year, a guy was interested in buying a rare vintage carded SW figure.
He asked me to take it out of the plexi glass container, spent several minutes sniffing it, then said "yeah, I'll buy it, it's vintage..."

Stretch Armstrong and Strech Monster had really distinct smells. I recall M.A.S.K. figures having a stronger odor than most toys I had. MOTU squishy heads had a slight odor to them at first. Of course Play-Doh comes to mind. I still enjoying getting a whiff of it when my daughter opens a new can.

12 years ago, I worked for a Billboard company. I was in a room with a large vinyl printer. That entire room smelled like a truckload of Ben Cooper Halloween costumes. I loved that smell!!!

Old magic markers of the 70s. Man, being in the art room of my dad's old community center would get you high!

And thanks for the memory of Ben Cooper costumes, Chris. I can still smell my Bionic Woman one!

Opening up Spawn figures was like being gassed by the worst smell ever.
              My wife hated them...

For nasty new action figure smells I thinks Jakks (WWF wrestling figures) were the worst.

Pure and simple: vinyl. Have been in love with that smell since I was a little kid.

Not a toy, but I remember the delightful smell of iron on heat press t shirts made to order at the Champion outlet store.
