So what's the big deal with Moon Pies?

I've never tried these bfore...always thought they were mostly a southern thing. Anyway, I see a display this morning at the convenience store...the Original Moon Pie..since 1917. So I bought one chocolate and one vanilla, after all, I've always heard how great they are.

Well, they tasted like they were baked around 1917. The marshmallow and cake tasted like foam rubber and caulk. The coatings were indistinguishable from each other except for the color and both tasted like slightly flavored candle wax.

HOW can people love these things?!

You were missing part of the equation. Grape Nehi.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

My guess? Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Also, the transfat is probably gone along w/ the taste. They may have been making them since 1917, but I guarantee the ingredients aren't the same.

I have never had one before, but would think that the people that grew up on them or with them are the main customers. They look a little odd to me.

They are like smoors but without a waffer.

Are moon pies more a southern thing? I grew up with them. They are cheap but there are other types of junk food I prefer.

I think Little Debbie makes them.

              They're ok with a coffee

The ingredients are quite different today. In the 70's this was a good snack if you needed some quick energy. Much bigger too. Today it's a shadow of it's former self. And tastes like it too.

You're actually suppose to have one with an RC Cola.

I'm embarrassed to admit as a Kentuckian, that I don't recall ever eating one. I was never big on real sweat treats. More of a salty, savory guy. I did have a weak spot for Dolly Madison Zingers though.

They taste like a marshmellow in between 2 twix bars

They're a Southern tradition with an RC Cola but they're not all that great, if you're a kid they're pretty good. Goo goo clusters are something you should try though. They're really choice.

Recently tried a banana Moon Pie for the first time. Not bad. Previously I'd only had Original.

I noticed that Dollar General sells an off brand moonpie.

Dont everyone fall over themselves to rush out for it
