Has anyone added extra gauge pods to their car?

I've been thinking about adding a dual-gauge pod to my Challenger. When I bought it in 2010, Mopar was offering A-Pillar Gauges for it. They quickly pulled the product because it was interfering with the air-bag system. Now other companies are claiming they have fixed that problem by tethering the gauges when the air-bags are deployed. Not sure I trust it, though.

Another option is the dash pod set up.

But I imagine this could also be dangerous if the bags deploy.

I'm leaning towards my third option: Overhead dual-pods.

They go right where the sunglasses compartment is, matching the interior color of your vehicle.

I was hoping to get feedback from anyone that has added extra gauges to their car. Is it considered a simple modification? Also, on the average how expensive would it be to add a dual gauge pod system? I know the pod itself is a separate cost from the gauges. Do certain gauges cost more than others, depending on their functions? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    JB

I added a turbo boost and fuel pressure gauges on my SVO Mustang and it went fairly easy for me and went with A pillar mounts. I would assume the stuff they are putting out for the newer vehicles should be engineered pretty well. I would lean towards the A pillar myself for visibility, but the airbag issue is a concern.

Thanks Hec; those are pod pics I pulled, but this is my ride:

The only performance enhancing pieces that I've added are a Cold Air Intake and a Cat Back Exhaust System.

Neither should warrant extra gauges, but I just think those gauges look bad-arse. I'll probably end up with the dual overhead pods w/ Oil & Water pressure gauges.

Close to 450. I remember Zemo mentioning a Super Charger on Jim's Challenger post. Hmmm.

If I bought or buy one of these, it would be the first thing I'd do. I like it!!

You can buy an aftermarket pillar and what ever gauges that you want, make sure the size is the same. No prob to hook them up.
