Well, it does make me feel old to be asked music questions I have no idea about since I do consider myself fairly knowledgeable. See, I didn't even know how long those two had been around, just around the 90's I thought. I have another associate who is infatuated with Taylor Swift and a new girl who love One Direction. Since they actually are on our store's music loop, I can officially tell them they are terrible IMO. Then I tell them to get offa my lawn. Then I take some Metamucil.

*************Warning lyrics are nasty ********this is one of my faves... lyrics were pure genius for the battle at the time...and probably what ultimately got him killed

Yeah, I'd have to say that yr excuse would be that you're just not a rap/hip hop fan..... When Tupac and B.I.G were alive and making records you were 25 years old....not exactly geezer age......In fact both Tupac and B.I.G are exactly of the same generation that frequents this board--both of them born in the early 70s......

I am usually never too old to answer a question...it is usually my being too clueless to answer a question My 10 year old rattles off singers and band names that I have never heard of before and I realize that I have now officially become a "them" and am no longer an "us"

The only rap I've ever owned is NWA's Straight Outta Compton, and that's mainly because I find it humorous. I am kind of an old codger when it comes to music. I realized that when someone pointed out I considered The Strokes and The Hives "new" bands.

I think that interest in a particular music genre would be more of a factor than age. I know one or two people in my age group that could probably answer that question, because they like rap. I don't listen to rap, so I wouldn't have a clue as to the answer (hell, is there a real answer? Questions like this are just subjective anyway).

Questions we're too old to answer

This seriously was asked of me today by one of my store employees. I should probably feel like it was a compliment, but I had no idea how to answer the question. I was supposed to settle an argument.

"Who was the better rapper, Biggie or Tupac?"

I hired her nine years ago, and she should know I'm way too old and not nearly cool enough to have any opinion on the subject. I told her I'd answer her question if she'd answer mine. Who was better, The Doobie Brothers or Foghat? We have mutually agreed not to discuss music anymore.
