I thought that and his follow up of "too soon" were some of his best. It was kind of a take off the old joke, "How can you tell Lincoln and Kennedy were both religious men?" They were both shot in the temple... Classic McFarlane humor is based on the old adage, "It's funny cause it's true." I don't see how some consider that to be in bad taste when some car company has Lincoln and Washington singing about the Red, White and Bluuuuuueeeeeee tooth every time a show goes into a commercial break. It crap like that (and other things like Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter) that I think is in poor taste.
Also the thing he said about Daniel Day Lewis being so into his character, he tried to "free" Don Cheadle in the parking lot. That's exactly what I would have expected from Seth. I wanted more of that and less of "We saw your boobs.." Also for a guy that is known for voice impersonations, he didn't do a single one, which was criminal. I kind of felt he was tame and some of the jokes were forced on him. Like the Sound of Music bit which he concluded with "Well there's that joke." like he didn't want to do it but did it anyway. But for all these groups to be offended by something he said, he must have done ok.
Soooo how do you do a tribute to Bond and not bother to get all of the Bonds to come out on stage. Now I heard that Connery and Brosnan didn't want to do that but that's their bad. They missed an opportunity for awesomeness. I also thought Bassey more or less screamed the song rather than sang it and I hate to say it but I don't hear the same thing everyone else seems to hear in Adele's voice. I just don't think she's that good. I really wanted Everyone Needs Best Friend to win. It was the only award of the night I had any interest in.
As for Shatner, the guy is a total joke. I really can't stand him to begin with but seeing him as Kirk at 80 is exactly why I don't want any of the original cast back for the new Star Wars films. It's kind of a sad reminder of what once was and yeah he's making a total mockery of the character in the process too.
