She was a teacher? What grade? The kids...half of them will be in therapy if they weren't all ready. Thats the selfish part really. Her death will always have an imprint on them.
Statistically speaking, most women kill themselves with pills (psychologically/subconsciously they think they'll still look good afterward) where opening a vein is second. Men usually do it with guns or jumping off or in front of things so I'm curious how did she do it?

Suicide is selfish and never considers those who care about you. I had a very good friend who attempted it years ago and it affected a lot of ppl.

That's very interesting. When I was young I considered jumping.

Pretty strong opinion for someone you didn't know so well Joe. Maybe you should take a step back and re-think about it.

Very sad news. My heart goes out to those that loved her. No one can help her now, but there's plenty of work to be done for those she left behind. Sorry you have to go through this JDeRouen.

My Father committed suicide, he was not selfish or cowardly nor was he crazy. He was the strongest man I know. Before people talk about **** that they have never lived though should think about the feelings about others that have. I blame myself because I moved out of his house to move closer to work 6 months before he did it. You never get over it.

Nobody will admit it but the first thing most people think is (is the whole family mentally ill ?)

edited to add ... i'm not talking about terminally sick people

Depression is a terrible disease- my mother is diagnosed manic-depressive, now referred to as bipolar (my grandfather was as well). When she's down she makes irrational decisions and has attempted suicide multiple times. She goes through long periods where she can't function in society. It's debilitating and I can't imagine ever being severely depressed.

I definitely believe it's genetic- my grandfather was manic depressive as well as my mother. But I disagree that that's the first thing people think. Too much of a generalized statement.

I knew a thread like this was bound to hurt someone's feelings....cause I know if I would've lost someone close to me to a suicide I would've been upset as well

Like I said, don't judge anyone until you know....Because I truly believe that that is one of those things that could happen to anyone at any time I don't care who you are

Why do you need to apologize- you have the right to your opinion. Just because someone doesn't agree with it or like it doesn't mean it's wrong.

He doesn't have to, but if you say something and hurt someone's feelings it's cool to apologize ...I give Mikey props for that

I'm not judging anyone for what they have said or for their thoughts and opinions but someitmes life just gives you more than you can handle at the present moment and you can feel helpless and as if you have no other choices. The pain you bear can be overwhelming. I'n not saying it is right or worng but you have to be in a person's position before you can judge. Sure you leave those you love in a bad situation but sometimes hopelesness over comes us all. Just my 2 cents worth. What people think is fine and all up to them. There's absolutely no reaosn to apologize for our thoughts and feelings. Grief effects us all differently.
