So am I. The trailers make it seem exciting, and the fact that it's a prequel to the 1939 film makes me want to see it more. I have a feeling it'll be spectacular.

I'm looking forward to this as well, although each trailer seems to have a different tone, and I worry about the film being overblown.

I love that they won't show the Wicket Witch too much in the trailers. I probably need to chill out because my anticipation of this movie might end in dissapointment.

I want to see this really bad. Based on the commercials tho I keep getting the impression the Wicked Witch of the West is CGI. I hope that's not the case tho.Comment

This is Hollywoods big March release this year same as Watchmen, 300, Alice In Wonderland, etc. have been in past years. Nothing else comes out when this gets released so the should do really well and enable the franchise to continue down the line. Oz projects get a bad rap sometimes because of the original (which is a bit unfair since it's one of the best movies of all time and pretty much impossible to replicate or top) but there's something like 22 books Baum wrote. Granted not all of them good and most of them are terribly dated and old fashioned but still there's a vast world to explore and Dorothy is only one small part of the series. I think going back and starting in the beginning with the Wizard was a good move here because they aren't trying to compete with the classic. The last time an Oz movie came out in the theaters was Return To Oz from George Lucas of all people. Although it got relatively panned it is one of the darkest and creepiest fantasy movies ever. I've always said that next to Star Wars and American Graffiti, Return To Oz was his next best film. If you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth checking out.
