Forgot to mentioned on my Redline I swapped out the stock handlebars and got some CW Racing ones. Loved the height and feel. Also ended up putting on the Moongoose MotoMag II wheels since it was popular with all the kids. Down side is they were too heavy so bunny hopping too a lot of practice and muscle. As did curb endos.

As for the Big Ripper and my personal review:

Cons: Some folks complain about the seat clamp but I've no qualms with it. Works great. It's a single speed so be prepared to pedal like a mad man during inclines. If you are older like me, then it's perfect to cruise with the kids. Also, tires are really hard to comeby so you would have to order online, I know I do since not many bike shops in the seattle area and specialize in BMX, mostly just mountain bikes, fixed gear and cruisers, if at all.

Pros: It's a PK RIPPER!! But BIG! 29" wheels so it's one tall bike. Love the black scheme for me and love that's its light just like the PK Rippers. Being 6'2", this bike is a dream for me and I've certainly relived my moments of BMXing as a kid while on this bike. I would never sell it. I still have my eye on a Quadangle and hoping they come in a killer color scheme, like the trademark SE Racing colors, brown and teal or all white including tires.

There was no such thing as a BMX bike when I was a kid. We use to cut the front forks off of old bikes and bolt them onto the forks of our bikes and make them into choppers.

I had two Schwinn Scramblers back in the day. The first was chromed and the second a Black Phantom. I'd get together with a group of guys and find some dirt lot to ride around in. I remember mostly seeing Mongoose, Diamondback and Redline bikes back then.

That's what I had, I think I had to put the tuffs on it though, it was gold.

Yeah I sure do.
At one time I owned close to 50 vintage BMX bikes.
But,I am under 20 now.
Still have a ton of Pro Thunders and parts.
Black and gold just like your old one.

I sure had a BMX bike when I was a kid, although not the one I wanted. I raced kids category back in 1983-1984.
I quit for good after loosing one inter-school race back in the day that was very important to me. Promised myself not to ride again.

Decades after I happened to ride the bike of my -then- girlfriend and feeling the air on my face and through my hair again sure was like a spark!

Today I have a Japanese Kuwahara Survivor 2.5 from 1984 and nowadays I'm working on its counterpart, the Expert 1984 model by Mongoose, which used to be my golden dream back in the day.

Here's some pics. The Kuwahara Survivor 2.5 (I have the original Elina seat, but when I use it I go with this one), The Mongoose Expert project, and one of the very good old days, too.
