'DJANGO' SLAVE TOYS BANNED from eBay

Yep, and I've already had would-be buyers contact me (via eBay no less) to purchase Broomhilda in result. This hysteria is only driving ridiculous commodity for something that only had a niche market to begin with. Funny how an underground market can be quickly created and propelled, thus ensuring lifespan, by self-professing do-gooders. Guess she's for sale again now. I was thinking of selling mine due to the ridiculous prices, but I guess I'll just keep them now.Comment

You can still place pre-orders for the 12" Enterbay figs. Guess said protestors haven't gotten that savy yet.Comment

^^ What's up now are a handful listings from today... last night there were a few dozen active listings. Looks like they are systematically killing them.
Yeah B, and Ms. Von Shaft alone was going upwards of 2-3k alone when they pulled the plug.
That current BIN set is a bargain in comparison to yesterday… guess that guy didn't get the memo yet! So if you still want 'em, there's the deal of the night.Last edited by Confessional; Jan 24, '13, 11:53 PM.Comment

Are they really selling for thousands or is that just people playing around?
Why ban the toys and not everything else related to the film?
A movie about slaves with slaves isn't going to take away the reality it really happened and this may not be PC, but if the film was directed by a black man, I doubt there would be a big fuss.Comment

It really annoys me that Ebay would stop commerce over the objections of people who are only sensitive to their own causes. Not because it was anything of real substance. Stopping production of an item is one thing I can understand if your worried about company image. But an auction site saying you can't buy or sell a toy is stopping free commerce and to me that is violation of my own rights. We live in a country that no longer respects the concept of freedom anymore. Every time we allow small groups to dictate what we can and can't do, we lose more and more ground on that basic principle. I find it ironic these people would protest about an action figure but they probably all contributed to the gross of the film from which these figures were based on.Comment

Welcome to the world [sic] of the ignorant protest, banned books, blacklisting and censorship. As someone who's worked in the arts and entertainment industry for nearly 25 years, I can attest that freedom and free expression are only ideas. Without a ideological adoption across social-politics with enforcement via the judicial system, those who practice said freedoms learn quickly about the real boundaries in our societies. I know first hand as I've had the FBI (among others) in one of my galleries concerning a single work of art in a group exhibition that quickly became international news from local affiliates all the way to Al Jazeera.
What's happened with the Django toys is akin to the hysteria of censorship in the early 90's with the Moral Majority, PMRC, etc. The target of the ban is largely removed from the direct agenda of the organizations behind the protest (although seemingly convenient), however emotions are appealed to and the artist is rarely prepared to have to mount such a defense. With Neca caving early on in the conversation, Ebay was then cleared to follow suit. This is what is really looks like when it happens folks.
… and yeah, they were/are selling for thousands.Comment

We're going back the the Dark Ages. Everything needs to be PC and controled, whoever shouts loudest gets his way, and the rest will be tried by the Spanish Inquisition.
Whatever happened to freedom of speech?.
