You know, those neighbors are not entirely innocent here either.

I have seen tons of people give up senior dogs for various reasons, it's almost llike they don't want to bother taking care of pets on their twilight years, it's not easy taking care of old dogs, high vet costs, special needs, deafness, blindness, brittle bones, urinating and defecting uncontrollably, and waiting for that final day, the dreaded euthanizing day.

The percentage of other people willing to adopt older dogs decreases dramatically. Those poor dogs have almost no chance being adopted.

I'm sorry, no matter what the reasons, I have little sympathy for people who give up senior dogs.

Instead we'll hang them from a tree and let Hector go at them like a pinata. Blindfold will be optional.

OMG! Are the dogs OK? Why did she want those dogs in the first place? Evil woman. Someone she tie her up in the cold and see how she likes it!

Same here. I have no idea how people can just palm off dogs they've had for ten years. Cats don't care, but dogs...

Who would tie up dogs to die in a forest, instead of just taking them to the pound? That is twisted and cruel. Those people should be investigated.

I had to have my old golden retriever put down the week before Christmas. Before that I'd had a few months of helping him stand and accidental pooping, but there is no way in hell I'd have him put down just because he'd become inconvenient.

Yep...when my old buddy Kato...my faithful little min-pin for 16 years...on his last year...he was blind...would pee and poop everywhere (even on himself, and I'd have to clean him up frequently)...had a bad hip and would limp...couldn't walk too well, had to give him special food, spent a ton of money on medicines (retina, dental, and kidney treatment and medications)...yes, it was difficult...but it was my duty and obligation to be with him until the end...going trough final stages...and then euthanization, was almost as trying as the death of my own father (my sister helped me a lot too).

Only when his kidneys finally failed...did I have to put him down...it was still hard as hell...I've never seen my sister cry so much.

IMO...to just give away an old senior doggie for whatever reason...I'm sorry...but that's cowardly and lame to me.

                Stricter laws.

A Pitbull was struck by a car in front of my house. The impact was loud as hell and the dog was yelping in agony, but eventually died. I ran outside, but he had another Pitbull with him who was kind of guarding his wounded friend. Some people put the dog on the side walk. I went out after they left and he was dead. Driver never stopped and it took hours to get his body off the sidewalk.

If that was a human. Their will be cop cars all over.

I personally value animal lives more than most humans.

I'm not really friends with my neighbors, so I agree what has been said above. I'd NEVER move to a house where I couldn't take my pets, especially older ones. My wife and I spent two years searching for a new rental home where we could take our dogs (who are 14 and 15). Giving them away, putting them down, that was never even an option, even at their age. We put their welfare first, our own needs second. They're our kids.

My neighbors weren't great with dogs, the animals spent 11 years in a small enclosure outside. That was always a thorn in my side, but not my call to make. The dogs had plenty of food, shelter and medical care. There was nothing I could do then. When she asked me to find a new home for them, I thought, yes, now I can do something.

Here's my theory what happened. The new owner of the house wanted the dogs off the property. He didn't want to appear a heartless brute, so allowed them to stay for a week or two more. I guess he asked a friend to pretend to take them, and then dump them somewhere.
But what a stupid plan that was?
They are microchipped, and had their documents with them. If they were ever found (and yes, they barked up a storm), alive or dead, the police would easily figure it out.
Unless, of course, they would then blame it on my neighbor, claiming that she had dumped them there.

There are many holes in the theory (except to say they're monsters, which they are). At one moment, the "new owner" claimed one dog had attacked her Jack Russell. Ok, so then return them. Or think "ok, I'm going to have to socialize the animals first". She has a big patch of land, plenty of room to keep them apart for a while. Even if she hated them (after only a few hours!), she could have just chased them off. Say they ran off. But no, they are left to freeze to death in the middle of nowhere. Btw, the "new owner's" first reaction was "I don't know how they got there". Yeah, they scaled the fence and took their passports with them, you stupid (deleted)...

For now, the dogs are in a local shelter. They say they don't euthanize there. So my quest continues.
My neighbor called me, saying that there's a new twist, that the story is even more bizarre than that.
