The players are the ones playing the game. I'm never really interested in seeing coaches looking bemused or bewildered on the sidelines. Now it's brother against brother and that's all that's gonna be talked about for two freakin weeks. Well that and the headache that is Ray Lewis. If the Falcons won today, I could have rooted for them. If the Patriots won today, I could have rooted for them but this Baltimore/San Fran match-up just isn't doing it for me. On the San Francisco side, I can't stand Harbaugh, and while I get Kaepernicks appeal as a quarterback, I can't root for a guy that plays that position inked up so much he doubles as a human canvas. On the other side, I've really developed a dislike for Lewis and his retirement parade. I generally dislike both teams on the whole. The only thing I'm gonna be interested in is to see if any of my Super Bowl Pool boxes match the score at the end of each quarter. I don't think I've had this much disinterest in a Super Bowl matchup since the Steelers met up with Green Bay back in the 90's. Maybe the game will go into OT for added excitement but we've been so spoiled with "Game For The Ages" type Super Bowls in the past decade that this one will probably be a lopsided blow-out by the half.
Steelers-Packers was the SB following the 2010 season. Being a huge Steelers fan, I was very entertained with it right up until they lost. I pretty much agree with most of what you're saying. I don't give a rats *** about Harbaugh vs Harbaugh, I don't like either of them. Ray Lewis tearful farewell is way over-done and I was hoping the Pats would of won so we could be through with it already.....not that I'm a Pats fan either but my wife is from Cape Cod soooo...... but they blew it. As it stands all I can say is that I'll be avoiding all the sports channels for the next 2 weeks right up until game-time......and go Niners.

Bengals will always be my favorite team, but growing up in Connecticut i was also a Patriot fan. I will be the first to admit, Belichick is a total grasshole. I hate hearing him when he does talk, so maybe him being a little crybaby loser again wasn't a bad thing. Patriots got outplayed pure and simple. Ravens D kept them in check in the first half. And the second half was all for the birds. I hope the NFL fines Belichick a ton of money. It is unacceptable for him to conduct himself this way yet again.

And i do like Kaepernick, and i don't understand why someone would hate him for something like a tattoo. Big freakin deal. The kid is very down to earth. He isn't some mouthy showoff. You don't ever see his name in the news in a negative light. And most of his ink is spiritual and inspirational.

Being a longtime fins fan and living in Maryland, I'll always take the Ravens over the Pats anyday. If one steps back and looks at both the 9ers and the Ravens over the last couple of years and sees how both franchises have been building for this moment the whole picture looks pretty neat, in my opinion. As for Ray Lewis, I can say that living around here he has always been as outspoken and emotional as the media have been getting him in recent weeks. I just think it looks to some like he is milking it, since they do not live near the team's coverage and the media has been more focused on him. He does motivate the team and the Ravens look to him as a leader so it will be interesting to see if someone like Flacco or Rice can do the same if both Lewis and Reed are gone next season.
          It's all good!

Oh brother. You're delusional. Since 2001 the Patriots are 42-10 against all NFC teams. Joe Montana and Tom Brady are the only players to win multiple MVP awards for the regular season and the Super Bowl. Brady passed Montana with the most playoff wins in NFL history. Brady and Elway are the only two QB's to lead their teams to FIVE Superbowls. Brady was even named the male athlete of the year by the associated press in 2007. Brady and Belichick are the most successful quarterback-coach combination in NFL history, winning 125 regular season games, 17 postseason games, and appearing in those five Superbowls. All NFL records. And all done with those 'best players' on the NFC side to compete against. He also passed Brett Favre as all time leader is post season passing yards. Oh and the last time Favre played against Brady and the Patriots on that 'mighty' Viking team, he lost and was knocked out of the game. So if you want to hate on Brady have at it. But trying to discredit the man's stats is a pretty fruitless task. The fact he can do anything close to what he did 10 years ago is a testament to the guy's passion for the game. He's played against the best and beaten the best. And he's done it without the benefit of having great players around him all the time either. Any player who can make a long career in the NFL is A MAJOR feat. But to be able to do it in the QB position and break almost every record is an incredible accomplishment, especially when your players are constantly changing around you. No one says you have to like him, but trying to rewrite history isn't going to help you get over your resentment for the man either.

as far as bellecheck not doing a postgame interview as a patriots fan its embarassing and ridulous he is allowed to get away with it. there is no excuse for it. other coaches have lost and spoke to the media. i am not as happy as i could be because i am a san francisco forty niners fan first and a patriots fan second, missed my dream superbowl. that being said i am extremly happy my forty niners have made it back after for the first time since 1994. go san francisco.

I have been a supporter of Brady in the midst of all his criticisms over the recent years for whatever. He might be in the top five of all QB's I've seen play. However, a couple of things in that game stood out to me, most notably the slide kick. It might have been instinctive, a defense mechanism but it should not have happened. He's a football player and expects to get tackled and hit. That was a chump move. I half expected him to get up and start a slap fight. With his legs spread out like you can actually see, if you slow down the video, his tampon string hanging out. Then, a bit later he had fourth and eight I think and had daylight to run for the first down. Instead of getting some sort of retaliation for the kick he threw the ball away. On fourth down he gave up.

Those two plays are minimal considering his body of work, but go a long way to explaining nationwide hate for the guy. No football fan or player or analyst can excuse those.
I still like him, I still think he and Manning are the best QB's of the last 15 years, but that was a small snapshot of his perception to a lot of football fans. You can't discount his accomplishments, but you can't excuse his obvious flaws.

Well to say Tom Brady would be a different quarterback if he played for a different team would be like saying Derek Jeter wouldn't be as good a baseball player if he played for the Royals. At best the point is arguable but Brady plays for the Patriots and all that you have to go on is his body of work with that team. For a position that for the most part success is judged by championships, the guy has been to 5 Superbowls. He's won three of them. Every time he takes the field, he's a threat to do damage. He's been a top five QB for the past decade and for most of that time has either been at the very top of the list or a close second. He's an all time great. Possibly top fie to ever play the position, definitely in the top ten. Everyones getting on him for the slide kick when really what should be scrutinized is his inability to run for a sure 1st down during the game last week and instead opting to throw the ball for an incomplete pass which turned the ball over and really began the road to a Patriots loss (what Random Axe said) but the guy is a sure fire HOF and I'd take him on my team over just about anyone else in the game.

As for the tats thing....However humble a guy appears to be, with all that ink, he's literally wearing his heart on his sleeve and if he is a product of his generation, he is part of a "look at me" generation. Those tattoo's are a direct representation of that mentality. For every one of him, there's 30 other quarterbacks that didn't feel the need to get themselves marked up like that. I always thought tattoos looked best on sailors, cons, tramps, and bikers. This guy is a professional athlete playing what is generally perceived as the most coveted position in all of sports and somewhere along the way he thought getting marked up like he just spent a dime in the State Penn was a good idea. I can't support that and if it were Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino...whoever, I'd feel the same way about them. I'm not that old and am by no means conservative but the whole tattoo thing just seems silly now. They used to be a way to stick it to the man. Now so many people have them that they've become more conformity than nonconformity. It's a personal preference but one that I stand behind. Guy with a sleeve of tats vs guy with one or two or none, and I'd pick the guy with one any day. Now that's not to say I wouldn't take him over a guy like Ray Lewis who flat out up and murdered two people and some how got away with it. That guy is a thug and were just supposed to forget about that and have this teary eyed goodbye as he very loudly exits the game. I can't get behind that ever.

I personally love tattoos. I served in the military and lost a couple great buddies and my own brother in Iraq. I proudly wear it on my arm.

I agree Hec, judging someone because they have tattoos is lame and these people need to take a look at themselves in the mirror before judging others.
