This isn't even a contest. To me Bread was kind of the male version of The Carpenters, they made some good songs but you'd be embarrassed if anyone caught you listening to them. Give it the "windows down at the red light test." Sister Golden Hair, Horse With No Name, and Ventura Highway are three of the greatest classic rock songs ever. If any of these songs comes on the radio while your stopped at a red light, you turn it up. If anything by Bread comes on, you turn it off.
I'd also argue that "Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn't already have" is one of the truest lyrics ever penned in song writing history.
I'm with you. I appreciate Bread - my parents wore out a couple of their albums when I was a kid - but I gotta go with America.
