I went to Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving to pick up a bunch of the $15 video games they had. Got there around 9. It was hard to navigate the aisles because every one was for waiting the 10PM TV deals. Once I got up front,it was a breeze to get out.

Went to Wal-Mart this evening to pick up a few groceries, and they still had tons of movies at the Black Friday prices. Got all the Harry Potters (except the last one) and the Lord of the Rings for $1.96 a piece. Also picked up some other movies for Christmas gifts. Andrew bought a bundled 8-pack of Avengers-related figures for $25. They had figures I never saw at regular retail, including a War Machine with a swappable Rhodey head, Volstagg and an Ultimates version of Iron Man.

Well, my store broke every sales record in this location going back to 1988. I was skeptical of the midnight opening but it obviously worked. We literally had 280 people in here in the first two minutes. Overall the day was smooth and lucrative. I see the company doing this again next year depending on how the extra payroll plays out.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

Maybe I am the odd man out, but I love Black friday...and to be honest I always get good deals when i go. I Would say its only worth it if you have kids and if there is a big ticket item you want such as a flat screen....nothing wrong with saving money, last time I checked. The whole debate about it cutting into thanksgiving is valid to a degree, but no-one is forcing anyone to go.Comment

I found great deals on a lot of stuff on line. It was much easier shopping from my big man's recliner than elbowing old ladies around with my 260 pounds of mego collecting self! (I also bought a Mego for myself from Santa from a member here at the museum). I have agree with some of the members here that opening on the holiday is a little much. The idea that people are getting up from the Thanksgiving table to go an fight and trample is disturbing. But, you know, if people didn't turn up these companies wouldn't do it again. I think they know that Americans couldn't resist. Sad really. . .Comment

I believe both are still available at my local Walmart though it makes no mention of any of the figures being different than the regular releases. At least nothing I noticed. It's a great deal if your kids want Avengers or Star Wars figures for Christmas. $3 a piece is hard to beat. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

^Some of them are common peg-warmers (like the green jungle Captain America from the First Avenger line). But others are figures that weren't that widely seen from later waves of each series, like Volstagg, Destroyer, etc.
Saw the Star Wars figures too. These would be great for toy drive donations as well.

I went one time many years ago. TRU had a bundle special on a PS2 system that my son wanted. I got there at 3am and waited in the dark, cold night. When the store finally opened and after another long wait I got the second to last bundle. There were still tons of people behind me so I would bet there were some mad shoppers. It was horrible and I will never do that again."Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you." - Frank BarronComment
