Yeah, I've heard some complaints about books four and five. Book three is fantastic so I'm kind of worried about being let down when I continue to the others.

Good book, but the movie has nothing to do with it at all. It's just Bond and Tanaka, discussing life in Japan for 200 pages. And I only have 50 pages left to go.
Had Fleming lived, he might have sued United Artists...
Yeah, I've read several of Fleming's Bond books and most of them are like that.

    Some good suggestions folks, thanks!

The MARS trilogy by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Almost done with Book 1 which was made into that John Carter film. Looks like we won't get any sequels so I want to find out what happens next.

i can't say much without giving spoilers, but obviously the series from book 1 page 1 has been building towards a confrontation with the white walkers on the other side of the wall. Book 4 moves forward with that and just introduces so many new characters i am losing interest. hopefully it picks up speed again towards the end to lead into book 5

Best book I read in a while is The Terror, by Dan Simmons.

It's like The Thing, but on a ship in the 1850s, on a Antarctic expedition.
The crew is stuck in the ice for two years, living off meager supplies, and an alien beast is stalking them. Quite an exciting read.
In one scene, the alien kills two crew members and returns the corpses to the ship, but pieced together into one human body, just to mess with the crew's minds...

Just finished In One Person by John Irving... kind of a tough read.

Dean Koontz "Twilight Eyes". My favorite book from my favorite author. Around my 10th read of it, too. I've been reading all of the Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt series in order as well. Guilty pleasures. I too an never not reading a book. As soon as I finish one, I start another.

Yeah, I can definitely see it building to that confrontation. I'm comfortable with all the characters now, and there's a lot of them! Adding a whole pile more doesn't seem like the greatest of ideas, I can see how one could start to lose interest, especially if the new characters aren't as engaging as the older ones.

Now that sounds like a really cool story, I'll check it out.

Dean Koontz is hit or miss with me, but I really like some of his books. I think my favorite of his is "The Bad Place", I've read that one about three times. I'm a book junkie, I have to be in the process of reading one during my down time or I get antsy. I get that from my mom, she usually has at least three going at any given time.

I am also reading a Mars trilogy -- except I am reading the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson, about the colonization of Mars (Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars). I am on book two Green Mars -- bit of a tough read.

Just finished Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon and that is one case where the movie WAS better than the book. In preparation for the hurricane I went back to the book store and grabbed the Cloud Atlas (because the movie looks intriguing) but after two chapters, I found the book to be unreadable. Seriously awful stuff so I returned it and dropped a few extra bucks for the Walking Dead Compendium Volume 1 (its like the first 48 comics all in one book) Best. Decision. Ever.
