The last time we went to the theater was to see Open Range, and that was in 2003!!!!!!! I would rather watch a movie in the quite and comfort of home.

Off and on over the years I have managed movie theatres and always enjoy watching a movie on the big screen. The problem now is I have 6 kids, a full-time job, a working farm and school so there is no longer any time. I take the kids to the movies maybe twice a year but that is about it.

I miss when movie theatres had huge screens as big as the theatre ---- like 20 feet tall and 40 feet across

That was the days before they split them into little rooms in the 80's

You gotta move to the Bay Area...we have tons of movie theaters with gigantic movie screens...especially the IMAX ones.

              It sucks here

All our mom and pop theatres closed years ago

All we have left is the multiplexes with tiny screens

The closest Imax to me is the Statue of Liberty Imax (about 75 miles away)

We have a huge theater in Cherokee NC on the reservation. Thing is massive. On Tuesdays it is family night so all tickets are $5 bucks. And this place is state of the art. The seats are fantastic and the arm rests go up if you want to be closer to your honey. Well there are hardly any people there. Most i ever saw was for Avengers and that was still only 25% full. We do sneak in snacks and drinks, so it's worth it for the big screen experience. Heck we have gone at times where us and maybe one other couple were the only ones there. Best time is first showing on a Tuesday. All the kids are still in school and everyone else is working.

Still love going to the movies. Despite the smaller screen size sometimes it's one of the few experiences that's largely unchanged over the years. Since I'm eating a bit better in the past year I usually don't snack at the movies anymore, eliminating the food cost. For the big movies you also get the excitement of the crowd which you don't get at home.

I have a decent home setup, but I'd much rather see a film in the theater. I watch a lot of movies at home, but there is always a distraction of some sort. In the theater, no cell phone or email to draw me away my attention.

Covering sports the last 20 years had me working most Friday and Saturday nights, but generally my Friday afternoons were free, so I usually hit a matinee before heading out to cover a game.

However, I dislike going on date nights. Too many people and too long of lines.

I love movies. I love the whole experience, being blasted out of my seat, having my body shake with the vibrations of the sound, enjoying the awe and shock with a mass mindset of other people.

But for many years, with only an all too brief yet incredible patch, I've never had anybody to really go see the types of movies I like (shock, violence, gore! I friggin' hate chick flicks, so going with my friend girls were out).

I really, really do not enjoy going to them by myself, it's usually only enjoyable to me as a shared experience. So for very many years (even in childhood because my parents never cared or thought about sending us to theaters) I've missed so many of the theater worthy movies I love. I didn't even get to see the original Star Wars in theaters!! Horrifying.

I've gone to a few important ones by myself, the Potters, LOTR, etc (definately will be catching the Hobbit no ifs ands or butts). But that's just the way it is.
