Game 3 tonight. All this talk about the Yankees having to channel the '96 team. If only.... But it would be just like them to wake up tonight and slap around Verlander. They do beat him a lot. Of course I could also see them putting up ten runs and not getting the pitching performance from Hughes. He's saying all the right things and his focus is certainly on the game but it's put up or shut up time tonight because no matter how good your team is on paper it's just too much to ask to come back from 3-0 down..especially without their most consistent hitter. All the focus seems to be how the Yankees are losing this series, not how the Tigers are winning it and from what I gather, the general consensus seems to be if the Yankees win tonight, they're gonna come back and win the series. That makes for good drama but they sure dug themselves a hole. Of course it is baseball and anything is possible and I wouldn't pop the cork just yet if I were Detroit cause like another great Yankee once said..."It ain't over till it's over."

Jeter out for the Yanks...that's a devastating blow...they may not recover from that.

The game just got over too late for me to reply. There's two ways to look at this...1st the Yankees have to win without their two biggest stars (Mariano & Jeter) which may be insurmountable and they could just roll over and die or, they could "win one for the Captain" so to speak and this could ignite the Yankee lumber and propel them to overtake the series. Joe had a great line last night after the game when he said "One mans injury is another mans opportunity" I think today will be a great indicator on how the rest of the series will go. If the Yankees come alive today then the series is even heading to Detroit and it's anyones for the taking but if they drop todays game, they face Verlander in Game 3 and CC may be pitching Game 4 to avoid a sweep instead of a position to take command of the series. One thing is for sure, no lead is safe with the Tigers bullpen the way it is but the Yankees have got to hit although last night they played into some really bad luck. A-Rod tattooed the ball to a guy who can't field his position and he made a spectacular play, Cano was safe at first on with the bases loaded and the ump missed the call, and Swisher took his offensive problems out with him to the field in the 12th last night not to mention another erratic strike zone on both sides. Personally I can't stand some of the relievers on the Tigers and their antics aren't warranted for a group that has trouble closing the door so it be nice to see them not even come out and the Yankees win this one 9-1 today but we shall see.

Looks like the Tigers odds just got better. I'm surprised no one brought up Jeter's ankle last night.

I think it's the Giants' destiny...my prediction is that they will win the battle of the two last WS champions.

I'm also rooting for the Tigers, I'm just sick and tired of the Yankees...lol.

ALCS starts tonight! The Yankee bats are due to get going again and if they can keep up the stellar pitching performances from their starters, I like their chances so Im going with the Yankees in 6.

NLCS tomorrow night the Cards who won't go away vs. the "almost lost to the Reds" Giants. This series could go either way but I'm gonna go with the Cardinals in 5 on this one just based of their resiliency. I know the Giants pulled off a miracle coming back 0-3 but thats exactly what it was a miracle and at this point they're lucky to be there. As cool as a Yankess Giants WS would be, I'm thinking it'll be Yankees/Cards at this point.

Although Im a little bummed that the Orioles lost. Im very proud of them for great season. The team is still young and will prove to be a powerhouse in the coming years. They played like a team til the very end.

I'm a tigers fan,but the A's did have a phenominal year.If the tigers would have lost.I would have pulled for the A's in ALCS.

I root for A-Rod not to strikeout......BUT he does so I hate Him....lol! He had his one Great year in the Playoffs and that's because he was giddy that he was tapping Kate Hudson....lol

What a series against Baltimore. I feel bad for Buck. One day he'll get his due but not this year and not against the Yankees. The Yanks were in a tight spot, if they beat the O's they did what they were supposed to do, if they lost to them it's "how could they lose to them.." I don't think I was able to breath the entire top of the 8th. As for A-Rod...as a Yankee fan I root for the uniform and anyone wearing it. If A-Rod plays, I want him to do well, if he sits, I want him to be supportive. He is a diminished player but he's still a Yankee and as long as he is, I'm gonna root for him. That's not to say I have as much confidence in him as Jeter but for the most part, regardless of who they are once they put on the pinstripes they're my guy on my team. Also there's what he did in '09 which was pretty much get them to the World Series single handedly and there should be something said for his poise during his demotion. He hasn't ranted and raved and while he may be dying on the inside he has said all the right things and that should be commended. Personally, I cannot stand Andy Pettitte. How does he get away with doing 'roids, leave (abandons) his team for three years and then pulls a Farve and unretires and some how Yankee fans love him. I hate the guy but every time he takes the ball, I root for him to pitch his heart out.

Also the Nats...is that not the worst possible way to lose a game and a series. Again the Cards were one strike away TWICE from being finished off and they found a way to come back and win. That check swing on Freese with two strikes was HUGE! What a sad turn of events in Washington. They were right there and it slipped through their fingers. Terrible day all around for the Maryland/DC area and a not so great NLCS match-up now. For all the talk about new teams in the play-offs, three of the four last World Series winners are playing in LCS now (the Tigers were there and lost in '06 too) and so much for home field advantage, the Yankees were the only home team that won their series! Awesome DLS all around though.
