Oh yeah, Cantonese is brutal! But I picked up a little when I was addicted to watching Hong Kong films around 15 years ago.

English of course and I know some sign language ( more then just the middle finger ), I used to know more when I was taking a class with a deaf girl. I've also been trying to learn Hungarian - I think I could keep from getting lost and starving but that's about it so far - I could probably get my face slapped too.

I dabble in Spanish, but it's mostly English.

English and some sign language...only picked that up because my sister went to school to be a sign language interrupter...

A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

German is much harder IMO. The grammar is really tough (and archaic). That's why I prefer more user-friendly languages.
There are many Flemish dialects as well. Drive 30 miles to the West (from Ghent to Bruges), and somebody will be speaking a dialect you'll have a hard time understanding.

                            Hmmmm....

English, I can get by in Japanese, I can hear French but my pronunciation is horrible. I used to be able to get by in Hindi, but I don't remember so much any more. (It's been 10 years since I last spoke it.) If I have my notebook I can kinda read Egyptian Heiroglyphs too. (I don't remember all the particles and determinants.)

Does the language of "love" count?

English only, I have to say now. Back in school, I took 7 years worth of Spanish, but just never kept up after College. These days, if someone is speaking, I can recognize the sounds, but my mind, just doesn't do that "instant flip" anymore - where you know the meaning and you do not have to think about it. I took a year of Russian in my Sr. year, but that is all completely gone now. Amazing what 20+ years of inactivity will do
                                It's all good!
