Action figures and resin leg lamps are pretty silly for sure but I think the annual exposure to these things kind of make it a bigger hit than when it first came out

Never knocking it, I thought the movie deserved more fan fare, it just seemed to come out of the blue for me.

I wonder if Prancer is looked kindly on now. I couldnt stand that movie originally.

One movie that didnt do well originally that I think is much better than its given credit for is Santa Clause: The movie. I've always liked it.

Daniel Stern's bad Darren McGavin reminds me of David Arquette's horrible interpretation of Robert Duvall's Agustus McRae in the Lonesome Dove prequel "Dead Man's Walk". He evoked Gabby Hayes more than Duvall.

If Billingsly had spearheaded a movie with Ralphie grown up, and reassembled the remaining cast, I'd be interested. This just seems wrong on every level.

I do remember the original movie bombing, but "The Wizard of Oz" wasn't a hit either. Tron was a dud, but spawned a sequel and an animated series and new merchandise. Maybe Green Lantern will pick up steam in 20 years...

It will be a train wreck, but I'll probably watch it if it shows up on cable next year just to see how bad it really is.

Is the kid who played Ralphie a director now?

^He's a director/producer, and has been a business partner with Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn.
