I need the break...in fact I'd like even more vacation days than I currently get....Leave a comment:

I have 4 weeks now so I would definitely do 1 week. If I had less, I would keep my vacation time.Leave a comment:

i have done it when it was a use it or lose it type of vacation time. Now, I can stockpile it forever so I would do neither. I take 3 short mini-v's and bank at least 5 days a year.Leave a comment:

No way. With stuff like this companies get so caught up they forget that proper vacation time is needed for employees to stay sharp and focused. Everyone is human and needs a rest/break. If ever hit the point where I earn four weeks I might consider it but right now I use the majority of my days. I'll add that where I work they don't have anyone they don't need so coverage is tough. So when someone goes on vacation takes a other people take a hit, whether it be more work or hours. That said I have no problem taking the hit for my co-workers when they take time off as they do for me.Leave a comment:

For me, I have somewhere to go then I'd keep the time, but if I'm gonna be hanging at the house, I end up working on the house or yard. I'd rather be making money and still end up working on the house and yard anyway. lolLeave a comment:

No way. I'm just finishing a weeks vacation now. I did a lot of fun things with the family, and that means more to me.Leave a comment:

I probably wouldn't sell it in my current situation. The wife & I often have to burn vaca to watch the kids. If I sold the vaca, I'd then have to pay for childcare. It'd still be profitable for me to sell the vaca, but not enough that I'd do it.
Actually, my company used to let us buy an extra week of vaca, and I always took them up on the offer. Too bad that's long gone.Leave a comment:

My Dad did this for years. He hardly ever took any vacation time, and we never really went on vacations, other than weekend trips.
He has told me he greatly regrets this, and encourages me to take all the vacation I have. My mother passed away the year after he retired, so all of those trips he held off till retirement never happened.
I make sure me and the family take at least one fun vacation a year. I need it to recharge my batteries, much more healthy.
If you are really financially strapped, it's probably a good idea. But if not, then it's a big NO.

I sure would! Now, if all I had was 1 week, probably not. If I had 2,3 or 4 weeks, hell yes! Sounds to me like you are working for a thriving company that has made an incredible offer.Leave a comment:

What's this 'vacation time ' you speak of? It does sound quite intriguing if what you say about people paying you for it is true.
While time off is a must I'd probably take the money. Reason being that if they are putting out an offer such as the one you mentioned, odds of being able to schedule a proper vacation sounds slim.
The really cynical side of me adds; "Take the cash, smile big and then call in sick for the next week. Claim back pain, go to an in and out medical clinic get a doctors note, go on vacation, get back, file proper forms at work to ensure you get your 'sick pay' and BA-BAM! You played the system."
