But the thing is,how did he get around all of those tests? Forget looking into Armstrong, start by looking into the testing system. The guy was tested something like 500 times and they all come back clean? Something fishy right there if he did cheat.

Listen, in every business or trade or sport or discipline or whatever...there are always "tricks to the trade." Trade secrets that only those in the business know about.
This is only my theory - but I think like any business, the cycling world knows what dope to use and how to get around the tests for that specific dope.
It's the same thing with doping in cycling. Cyclists are a brotherhood and they will never openly ADMIT they dope to the world, even though they all know they do privately.
There is more to this story - there always is - to come out. We will learn more in the coming weeks and months.Comment

a lot of athletes take stuff genetically made just for them that doesn't come up during testing"Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee

Some idiot reporter here said it was normal that they take drugs, "otherwise you could never win these kinds of endurance races..."
Great! I hope this guy never has kids he wants to motivate.
"Daddy, my tricycle won't go fast enough!"
"Let me fix that for you, Timmy. You'll ride like the wind and it'll only sting a little...".

The paper today said Armstrong paid $150,000 to one official to look the other way..

Was it proven? Beyond the shadow of a doubt that he did such a thing? Were there other witnesses? Was it recorded either on camera or on audio?
If it's simply the official's word against his, I have my doubts.
For that matter, he is simply being accused of doping up during the events. If he did manage to pass all of the drug tests, rumors of bribery aside, then why is he being stripped of his title in France??? The USADA has no jurisdiction over that.
If there's no way to prove that he doped up during his career, such as with pictures, videotapes, etc. then how in the heck does anyone have the right to erase his record?
All of this took place YEARS ago; it seems a bit late to be lobbing accusations left, right and center at Lance.
He decided that rather than keep fighting the allegations to simply drop the appeal and get out while the getting was good.
With all of the other garbage going on in the world, people decide decide to focus on something like this.
Yes, I agree; the sports world DOES need to be cleaned up of steroid abuse and other drugs. I am not saying that it doesn't happen. I am simply saying that without one hundred percent positive proof that he doped, the allegations aren't worth the paper that they are printed on.
Now, I may simply be blowing smoke, but that is how I am perceiving all of this.
After all, no news source has ever stated that it had access to any of the drug tests that he was given, which would show whether he doped or not. Or whether the results were faked, or altered or whatever. No news source has ever come forward with a video of any of the cyclists involved doping up, so why are they simply focusing on Lance?
And what is the opinion of the French in all this? So far, the only ones we hear from so far in the news are the Americans.JediJaidaComment

All the sports did fine fifty, sixty years ago; all the fuss with cheating and steriods, etc, has tainted the college and professional levels. It all needs to be cleaned up and have fair competiton brought back. There needs to be caps on salaries to. Why people have to spend so much for the trouble they go thru to see a game is beyond me.
If he did really did it, im glad of their decision. If almost every cyclist was doing it, then there is a serious problem in the sport that needs to be examined and look into their testing program. It makes you wonder if those that are testing are "looking the other way" for the athletes.Comment

Seems like you can't win either way...you either admit or you deny...in the end...you are still a cheater.sigpicComment

What I find peculiar...is that Armstrong...the tremendous competitive athlete that he was on the track...never giving up...always giving it his all...finally decides to surrender and call it a day...to me...that's a clear sign that he cheated. Like Damien said...you fight those charges to the death...no matter how long it takes...no matter how difficult the struggle is...you keep on fighting and never surrender...well...he did just that.
Guilty as charged.sigpicComment

Yeah...but look at where broke arse Canseco is now...getting knocked out by a former NFL player...or getting a draw against Danny Bonaduce...in some lame arse celebrity boxing matches, lol.
Seems like you can't win either way...you either admit or you deny...in the end...you are still a cheater.but atleast I respect his honesty ..he's the first one who said all those guys juiced up and no one believed him..and when it was all set and done..He was the only one being honest
pretty sad

This is my take. We all know he did. He knows he did. But he did it in a sport where EVERYONE dopes. Cycling is the most notorious sport for doping. They all do it. They all find ways to get around the tests. If every person in cycling were honest, they would all admit they dope. So...if everyone he was competing against was doping, and he was doping, they all had a pretty level playing field.
Since he won 7 times (more than anyone else)....that makes him the DOPEST OF THE DOPES.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment
