I think you've got something with going "Retro 80's" with the theme. To just sell VHS? Boring. But to do it as part of an 80's flashback experience? Now there's some fun. It's always the sizzle that rings the register when it comes to nostalgia IMO. Work it out on paper (site design, theme, promotions etc...) And then go for it bro!Comment

I appreciate it guys...Yea i was thinking of a few names... "Back2the80's.com" Stuckinthe80's.com , Ilovethe80's.com (Kind of cheating cause of the VH1 show, but it's still there for the taking lol)
I think I'd go for the all 80's stuff....not just vhs"Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee

I'm sticking w/ mine. Hey, records made a comeback. What's old is new again. Just wait and see."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

I still have 2 vcr's and i still record shows on them.....my Dvr can only hold so many hours on it.
Plus Dvd's scratch for any dumb reason and then they won't play....A Vhs tape still will play unless the tape gets super damaged......so Hell no I'll never give them up and Yes there maybe still a market...
I'm the guy that goes to flea markets looking for good deals on tapes...Comment

hey, with an 80's theme you could even sell 80's toys like GI Joe, HeMan, Thundercats etc......if you do try, best of luck to youComment

The difference between VHS and albums is that vinyl actually produces a superior sound. VHS produces a much inferior picture so I don't think you can use that as a comparison and think it might do as well. Plus you can't beat albums for their superior display of artwork vs. competing formats. I can see laserdiscs having a cult following for the reasons I just stated. VHS does not have these qualities so it's more of a gamble. However, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be successful. Just something to think about.Comment

i don't think there is a mrket. the picture quality and sound are awful. unless it is something that is not available on disc or has some rare tidbit to it, i don't think there is any value to the tapes. i have been slowly replacing mine on disc and just throwing the tapes in the garbage. i tried selling at tag sales and could not give them away
There is a huge market for vhs at the moment and I see it as never going away. Through facebook and some other places the community for it is still pretty huge especially for the more non mainstream titles. Really your biggest sellers would be most of the titles from the exploitation/horror/camp-b grade/sci-fi/cheese action genres. For example you will not get anything for Indiana Jones and the temple of doom, but you may get something for the old Continental big box for "terror on tape". You also have to understand it is also not so much for the actual quality of the video itself but more so for the box and tape and for what it is
you also cannot just stock any vcr and think it will sell. Most of them are pure crap, but find the higher end or special decks many are looking for and you will get profit from it (example some of the higher end JVC decks that had the built in time base corrector). Likewise a betamax deck might be hit or miss, but a super beta max deck and if it works will sell"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"
