Is anyone else sick of hearing about Whitney Houston?

I like her early pop tune hits like "I wanna dance with somebody", but those slow ballads got on my nerves. I couldnt wait till they were finished when on the radio. -
Personally, her voice gave me a headache
I would much rather listen to her aunt Dion WarwickLeave a comment:

Whitney was a tragic figure who was probably abused by her ex-husband. It's an all too common tale, (see Ike & Tina Turner). We will never know the whole story.
MJ was a self-proclaimed "King" of pop. His rep was P.R. and planned by him and his people. Did Elvis and his P.R. people proclaim him a "King" too? I have to acknowledge their talent but as far as declaring themselves "King" of anything-I just think that's stupid and goes to far. I don't have any hate for MJ but I'm not sympathetic either. His coverage is way overkill just like he lived his odd-ball life. But that's just me

It's un-nerving thinking Weird Al has had more "hits" than Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston combined --- but he's never know as "the king"Leave a comment:

Well...yeah...but that was not my point...I was just talking about pure voice talent...Whitney was up there.
In terms of pure legendary status, most famous, talented, record sales...and influential...you gotta say the Big Three without a doubt...
Elvis
The Beatles
Michael Jackson

She was a very talented vocalist AND she has something in common with those three: drugs and addiction. I've never seen the appeal in it. I would think it would hender performing but I guess not since so many acts have gone on stage drunk/stoned.Leave a comment:

I certainly don't dislike Houston. She had a fantastic voice, and she made some good songs. Same thing about Jackson. Great entertainer and singer as well, though I prefered him in the Jackson Five and his early solo years.
I'm sorry that those things happened to Houston, her marriage killed her. Love is blind. But in the end, she was a drug addict, and that's sad whether you're famous or homeless. Remember when she did that interview saying that she had never done drugs, ever?
What bothers me is that a lot of people who were pointing the finger at her for doing drugs and drinking, all of a sudden "missed her so much" after she died.
It reminds me of George Michael. He has a great voice, good entertainer, but they're hounding him into an early grave. Should he die, then they'll love him again, I guess.
Remember Roy Orbison?
In the years before his death, nobody remembered him here. He dies, and all of a sudden radio stations here played him 24/7, calling him The Big O, a legend, blablabla...
I wish they'd just listen to people's music, like or dislike it, and be done with it.
I try to be honest about liking or disliking people in the media, before or after their death. Captain Kirk will always be my childhood hero, but Shatner is an egomaniac and a tw*t. He'll still be one after he dies. When Ike Turner died, he was still the guy who beat Tina within an inch of her life.Last edited by Gorn Captain; Aug 19, '12, 9:36 AM.Leave a comment:
