Just got home from work. I feel Like I .....I don't even know how to explain it. Between seeing this and The Columbine kids....I hope to never see another like these two...my head just cant handle it. Too graphic....just soo much. Im use to the violence with my job, but this is just tooo much....i'm gonna go to bed....Comment

I actually stayed away from most geek related stuff today after hearing about this. I think I just needed some times to process. Batman, superheroes, and comic books are things I associate with the innocence and magic of childhood and it hurts me to have them attacked like this. It stinks, it's not fair, and it's life. In the end. I'm glad I'm a part of a community like this and the family that I have.Mortui Vivos Docent

I agree with you. This isn't just a nut like Jared Loughner. When toys2cool posted about the kid being a bright med student and how he was capable of something so horrific, the first thing I thought of was Josef Mengele. It doesn't matter how intelligent someone is, without a moral compass of some sort and/or wisdom, intelligence can be easily perverted. The guy's a sphinx--he booby traps his place, then warns the police? I don't understand, but I'm sure the next few days we'll get a clearer picture. I just hope he's the last of his kind. All those lives lost and discord sown, seemingly for nothing.Comment

OMG! Those poor people...and that little kid. Y'know there was a report of a drive-by shooting here in Oakland at the Jack London theatre while folks were waiting in line for Spider-Man. (and I almost went 'cos it was on my birthday!). It's enough to make me want to stay home and become an argorophobic! I hope they give that scum the chair!

I never go to that theater...it's too close to West Oakland (gangs)...plus it's small as heck. Plus you have to cross the street from parking to theater.OMG! Those poor people...and that little kid. The theater I most go to...is AMC Bay Street 16 in Emeryville...much safer (enclosed parking is right next to the theater)...plus is a much nicer and modern theater, with much bigger screens.sigpicComment

I know the media has to cover this type of thing, but the fact that this story will be over examined for the next several months is exactly why I think these psychos do this sort of thing. They want to make their stamp, they want to change the world for just an instant...and they do. This guy was the most talked about person in the world (or at least the US) for one whole day.
In the days before 24 hour media, this story would have made the papers, the nightly news, and minus a few follow-ups, that would have been it.
I think these are the types of guys who used to be serial killers. You don't hear much about those types of killers anymore. Why string it out over time when you can have a big media blitz?
It's just sickening. I do hope they make an example of this sick freak.
