    This poor girl
... What are odds that she goes through the awful experience of the shooting in Toronto's Eaton centre, only to be ome a victim in a similar public shooting a couple of months later? My spouse and I were actually across the street at the theatre during the eaton centre shooting and had opted not to eat in the eaton centre food court that afternoon. A couple of weeks later there is a shooting on the block where my school is in little Italy.

This week there were shootings three days in a row in my city. We're just not used to this. Some are saying the heatwave just makes people crazier.

Things like this make me wish we had he death penalty in Ontario!!! It's just sickening

They should have a midnight showing to this piece of crap's hanging. No electric chair or needle, make this guy dance and leave him up to show other scum like him what they can expect as well.

We had tickets to a 9:30 IMAX showing. I'll be honest, after my wife told me about this, I was nearly sick to my stomach. I just can't imagine sitting somewhere like that, being entertained, and something like this happens...it's truly unfathomable.

It made me consider NOT going. But I took the day off, had the tickets, and my son didn't know (and doesn't really need to know) anything about this horrible, HORRIBLE event. And as I said in the comic section, it's a cliche, but if we all stay in our houses with our doors locked, these lunatics win. I'm only glad there weren't more casualties. It could have been worse in a packed theater, although of course 1 is WAY too many.

Unfortunately, this movie will now be remembered more for this than the fine film it is. And the evil creep just picked it because it WAS the hot ticket of the summer, sure to be packed.

I can already see the defense on this one: somehow or another they will try to bring up violence in entertainment media or try to bring up the themes in Nolans Batflicks. Its a cliche all its own. Gotta blame something!

This guy was supposively a nerd. Now we know not all nerds are all that bright.

What no one is saying is that this country needs stricter gun/licensing laws. How some of these wack jobs get their gun licenses is beyond me. It's gotta stop. There has got to be a way to weed out crazies like this guy from EVER getting there hands on a gun or getting a license for a gun. Also, how the hell does he get all the material to basically booby trap his apartment with explosives??!!??

As vivid of an imagination as I have, I'm having difficulty thinking of a punishment severe enough for him. It's too bad we live in this society where criminals are coddled and nurtured, cause there are a great number of things that could be done to him, hopefully publicly, that would deter future incidents. Public, upside-down, naked crucifixtion at halftime of the Super Bowl. If he isn't dead by the third quarter, set him on fire. And definitely have him mic'd up so we can hear him. Stuff like that.

It will be nearly impossible to go see this film without thinking of this tragedy. It will be impossible for the familes of the victims to get over this nonsense. Humanity is definitely circling the drain...

He told the police he was "the Joker." No idea why he'd colored his hair red as they reported or how he had time to wash it out before his mug shot was taken. Whatever the case was, the guy sounds more evil than crazy, not that it makes any difference to the departed.

The problem is you can get a gun anywhere....Honestly for $200 here in Miami I can get an assault rifle and even grenades....In Little Haiti down here these people bring in all sorts of stuff...Most of the people killing people don't even own the weapons legally

and who would've thought that a dork like this with a Med education would do something like that? It's scary to think that people like that are capable of such horrific acts

The scarier question is... what actually triggers someone to do something like this? It's so scary to think that anyone at any given moment could snap like this

How could you enforce stricter laws on crazies if they haven't done anything or given a hint they have issues until they snap? It's like all the cases the police can tell you about where their hands are tied until something happens. It sounds like this guy, though--even his Mom knew he was headed this way.

                            Can we not go there?

We have a lot of people here with a lot of different views and politics are already getting mixed into this in a million different forums on the web.

You all know we don't have politics here. Please don't put the mods in a position to remove comments or have to shut down this thread.

Those poor people, they just wanted to watch a movie with other fans and have fun. They didn't deserve to die for that.

And that picture they keep showing of him....what a cocky little piece of ****.

Apparently the police haven't released his mug shot yet, that photo being shown is a medical school ID photo I believe. Very sad and scary story. One of the injured is a three month old baby. I can't wrap my head around who in the world would bring a three month old baby to a movie, let alone a midnight showing. Anyway, this guy sounds more like an evil "genius" rather than just crazy, that makes it even more scary that there are people like that out there.
