    Old T.V.'s

Anyone have a older television that they still use? If so how old is it and how long have you had it?

My mom finally got rid of her old t.v. that she had for 20 years. It finally gave out.

My TV is about 10 years old ... just a regular picture tube style ---- weighs a ton

If it ever broke I guess i'd have to chuck it

We still have two that are about 10-15 years old. They are big and heavy but still work fine. One is in my garage for when I am working on the bikes.

That TV is a JVC Videosphere by the way. Came in a few colors, the top round part actually will detach from the base and you could hang it. The one I have looks just like the one pictured, but that picture isn't mine.

I have a late 1970s zenith wood cabinet tv in the garage thats hooked up to cable. Its just a hand me down, i didnt want the neighbor to throw it away. It has a pretty good picture. When watching CNN on it, i cant read the bottom of the screen which can be annoying.

I have a mid 70s Magnavox console TV that my Mom pawned off....uh gave to me 15 years ago.My son uses it to play his video games on, with a newer TV that sits on top of the console,so he can play his games and watch TV. That Magnavox will not die.

I just broke down an old console TV that came into the thrift store this morning. We always have a ton of old TVs hangin' around that still work.

I've got a Sony that I bought when I moved back to Florence in 2000 and it looks the same as it did the day I bought it. It's a picture tube and it weighs a ton. About a year and a half ago we got a 40" LCD from our family for a Christmas present. Its already dead! We bought a new 40" LED from target and I purchased the extended warranty this time. Hope this one lasts longer than a year and a half. I know these new TVs are supposed to last just as long but a lot of my friends are telling me the same thing. These new flat panels are dying in droves. When I was a kid we had the same Zenith tv that my parents got when they got married. That thing was still working when it was 30 years old! They finally gave it away and bought a new one to hook up to cable. Crazy huh

I still have an old tube tv that resides in the master bedroom. I agree on the LCD thing. The Samsung 46" tv that I bought exactly 4 years ago is about to die. I remember purchasing it just before the 2008 summer olympics. One of the lights behind it seems to be on the fritz. At first it lasted a few seconds until the picture was normal. Now it takes about 15 minutes. I expect it won't be long until it no longer works. Never had any problems with any of the old tube tv's.

Figure their still trying to get the kinks out of the flat panels. Those old tv's are reliable and for older tv show I still like the old display better.

I have 2 standard (what I call normal, not flatscreeen), TVs. The one in the living room is about 20 years old, and the one in my room is about 12. There is a shop aruond here that still repairs older TVs and VCRs, so I'm still in good shape. What I really want is a good old fashioned console set, redone to color conversion, w/ modern jack hook-ups for VCRs and cable boxes. That's my idea of the ultimate big screen TV!
