I go to a lot of estate sales and this one seemed a little fishy to me. Robertos report about repro parts just confirmed my suspicions. Sometimes estate companies put their own stuff in sales giving the illusion that the items are "estate fresh" when in actuality they are not. Obviously with repro parts these figures were not pulled from the basement outta some 70s kids' toybox.....

OK, quick reply. It's been said that when Big Brian has no idea about the value of something, he comes up with an insane number off the top of his head.

I also heard that he puts insane prices on things so that they do not sell. That way, he can tell the home owner that it didn't sell, but for a small fee, he could haul it away for them (he then take it to his warehouse and sells it for himself.

I'm a fool I guess for even considering it. The guy has done time in jail for tax invasion (big deal though). But I heard stories of him stealing off clients, having pre-sales to his cronies, high prices, curing at buyers and blowing cigar smoke in their face, threatening other estate sale companies, etc.

The fact of the matter is, the guy is a scumbag and even if he had the holy grail advertised, it's best to avoid him completely.

Good point. It's possible the home owner was a Mego collector, thus the repro parts. I said that it looks like a collection that was well taken care of and collecting over the last few years.

But if that is the case. Why would a Mego collector leave it up to a estate sale company to sell them? If he's the kind of guy who knows enough to find repro parts, he would most likely be a member here and could sell all of them in less than a week on this site.

As I said, Big Brian is known to be a con-man, so ANYTHING is possible with him.

Did anyone see those few episodes of his show on TruTV?

ohh, I was hoping for 64 Joe stuff, not the midget Joes.

I would go, but I'd have to take a cab to the train station (which leaves at 5:50AM). Then sit on the train for over an hour. Then take a cab to the sale. Repeat all that in reverse.

There will most likely be a huge line outside the house by the time I get there. If I was going just to look, I can do that online

The Supergirl tempted me but I'm glad I didn't waste time, as well as lose sleep and toll money to attend this.

Yep, it's the first time I've ever gone to it. Found some great records for a really good price. Upgrades to some of my Beatles collection. Toy wise there wasn't much there that I buy. Got a few pieces...but mainly to use as trade or to re-sell. There was one guy that had a Superman Movie (Reeves Superman) display for the glasses/cups that were sold. I think it was a an old Pepsi point of purchase ad ad. I asked and he wanted $50. By the way he said it I knew he wasn't gonna budge on the price. Guess I'll be seeing it again at the next flea market. Overall the day wasn't a total loss. Got some really cool records at a good price. Can't complain.

I passed on one of these a few years back at a flea market myself. I think it was $30 to $50 but I can't remember. Did I make a mistake?

It was about 2 - 3 ft high and about 2 ft wide. Had Reeves as Superman on the left side. Reeves wasn't flush against the left side...it was almost like a cut out. The area where it said 69 cents per glass look similar to the one in the pic...but it didn't show the designs of the glasses/cups.
