Classic Batman & Robin Costumes for a High School Stage Play
Opening Night of FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT proved to be a STUNNING performance from my entire cast and crew!
What a journey this has been! The final product was more exciting than I could ever have dreamed!! Seeing my vision finally come to life on stage was a feeling I don't have the words to adequately describe!!
I still get goosebumps when I recall the opening overture of Act II (after intermission is over)...
The audience re-enters the auditorium to a GRAND orchestral score blaring from the sound system. At just the right cymbal crash, the BAT-SYMBOL projection appears on the closed stage curtain and majestically begins to sweep the side walls and ceiling of the space. Moments later, the curtain parts to reveal Police Commissioner James Gordon standing on the rooftop of Police Headquarters, signalling for the Dynamic Duo with his enormous Bat-Signal searchlight!! Whew!!!
You can actually hear the audience gasp with excitement each time that sequence plays out.

Wow! I hope your drama dept. made a video recording, 'cos I know after hearing about this for 2 years, we'd ALL like to see it!
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Did this remain a high school play, or did you move to community theater?
Well... kinda BOTH ACTUALLY. You see, I pulled the show OUT of the school system so that I had full control over the show's CONTENT without having dumb Board of Education rules hampering me at every turn over how the student actors would be portraying these characters (IE: No "sexy" Catwoman! A parent might get offended! No green shorts and pixie boots for Robin! A parent might get upset and sue us! Etc. Etc).
With the play produced, funded, and Directed entirely by ME personally, I had total autonomy and creative control, and did not have to answer to anyone over what I wanted to portray. I worked in the capacity as the Creative Director of my own entertainment company Lion's Roar Entertainment and NOT as an employee of the Department Of Education. That placed the status of the play firmly in the camp of independently-produced community theater.
HOWEVER, when our originally planned college auditorium venue fell through at the last minute, I was able to secure the Grand Auditorium at DeWitt Clinton High School Campus in The Bronx, NY. This is the very alma mater of Batman creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger! They were both graduates of the class of 1933!!
So... an independent community theater production (made up mostly of student actors), performed in the auditorium of a famous Bronx High School.

We have one performance left to present... our closing night of July 12th. It is our intention to Shoot that performance (in hi-def video), inter-cut with various full-dress rehearsals that we have filmed (for closeups Etc.). It will all be edited together as a slickly produced DVD (with TONS of behind the scenes extras)! :D
Congratulations! I know this has been a real labor of love... with emphasis on *both* the labor and the love. The images of the final product are a real testament to your vision, hard work, and talent. I get goosebumps just looking at some of those pics.
Wow, everything looks great! Love how everybody's able to have fun along with the hard work. I can't wait to watch the video and to buy the DVD whenever it comes out! Keep up the good work!
