Lurkers no longer welcome on Facebook

I lurk at a few Facebook pages b/c I'm either mentioned on them, or I need to see a TV schedule that isn't mentioned on my cable guide (like Svengoolie), but I can't even do that anymore. Now as soon as the wall page loads you get the "not logged in" page. Not that I want to join Facebook, but how are people supposed to see what they're joining if they're not allowed to look? That's just ridiculous! And now I really don't wanna join any site that excludes potential members from taking a peek at what they wanna join. Does anyone else find this absurd?

I'm not on facebook either, and find links to fb pages I cannot view annoying.

EDIT: Seems this new policy is a shameless way to get people to join.

I know! But it's had the opposite effect on me! *insert Bronx cheer here*

I had a cousin talk me into joining. I figure that way I can keep up with the family that way.

Couldn't you guys just create a dummy account without your real info?

I have a Facebook account...and have a lot of family and friends...but to be brutally honest with you...I hardly ever visit that place...I just find it extremely boring.

                Hmmmm....

It's all part of Facebook's plan to become all powerful. With each person you "friend" you gain strength:

I loved Facebook so much I had to quit it. Doing fine without it although I have a dummy account to manage my Facebook pages.

If it's truly gotten to the point that you can't look up TV listings without being on Facebook I think we're doomed.

Yeah, I can no longer see the Hasbro My Little Pony and Transformers pages. Doesn't make me want to join. It only ticks me off.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

As far as the TV listing for Svengoolie...Me-TV decided that they would show the reruns of the 90s eps from Chicago at 10pm, and their new eps on KOFY at 1am. But the cable guide only describes the 10pm show as "Horror movies are screened w/ a twist of humor added by the ghoulish host." Sometimes he remembers to post what movie is on the Bay Area Me-TV and sometimes he doesn't. But I love stupid B horror movies so I check his FB page, or rather I did. I guess I'll have to be surprised. oh well.

Or when I feel less militant: Nope , I choose not to use facebook.

It's just FB trying to get more ad income by forcing people to join. There are serious privacy issues there that need addressing, too. I was on my Mom's account troubleshooting something for her and in her newsfeed were posts I'd made on various pages that were really no one's concern. They were political in nature and I stand by what I posted, but they were also not intended for mass consumption by anyone that knows me, but a select group--namely, the page I posted on. If I "Like" a comment by Donald Driver, f.ex., my Dad's cousin's kid doesn't need to know about it and there is no real way to fix that easily.

Same here. People pushed me to join, I eventually did, but I've never posted anything.
All I get are stupid messages of people posting monumentally important things like "Had a great sandwich for lunch!" "Weekend's started!!" or "Here's the 1,265th picture of my kid!!!!"

Hey, I'm all for great food, long weekends and cute kids, but enough already!
