No studio confidence in new TMNT

The 1st Film wasn't too bad ....
The Cartoon Movie of a few years ago was decent ...
outside of those..., I can't watch this stuff.

Really??? those are the best, I liked them for what they were it was raw and a bit unpolished but the idea was great.....

I was like, 11/12ish when the comic was big I think. Maybe other kids my age were reading it at that time, but I was probably more comfortable with really polished looking Marvel stuff and also maybe too sucked into the Marvel story lines to spend money on other unrelated comics.

I think I was like 15/16 when the cartoon came out - and not interested in comics cartoons anymore. I thought the show was fun - I just wouldn't have watched it without the excuse of watching with little kids. NOW I might!

Viacom is the parent company of Paramount, and yes, they are definitely getting a chunk of the Avengers' money. The Parmount logo did appear after Marvel's logo at the beginning of Avengers.

Yeah, here's the article I saw before. Looking at it again it actually doesn't make sense to me - a distributer wouldn't necessarily put up money for production, so why is this strange here? It's probably just a sloppy article trying to make a story of something that's not really a story.

It's weird - I've never read the original comics - I probably should.

The neighbor kids I would babysit LOVED the cartoon - so I'd watch with them and I kinda got a kick out of it too - but I think TMNT got lost in the age gap for me maybe. I was maybe too young for the original comic and too old for the cartoons.

As far as I know Marvel/Disney/Viacom produced/distributed "The Avengers" and Paramount was like a silent partner type-deal. I'm reading they made a chunk of change off it either way. Did it have a Paramount logo at the front with the other logos? I haven't seen it yet.

Honestly I'd like to see a movie with a harder version of the Turtles like they first were in the early books....not the later cowabunga crapola.......

And good point. Maybe the script stinks. Some odd movies have been making it out in a bid to take up space on the schedule (Battleship?).

BUT, I think a GOOD TMNT movie could do well, based on other 80s properties that have been "gone" for awhile returning to good box office, like the ones I mentioned above.

I agree with you totally, but the article just says they're pushing it back a year. I guess that could mean they're thinking about not doing it too. Who knows. Maybe they also want wait a bit for the new show to grow public interest too. In any case, I'm just hating how movies get green lit and rushed out in less than a year to make a particular summer weekend release date. it's refreshing to hear that a studio is holding back a project to iron out the script, even if it's just a cover of some kind.

I think Paramount has been doing very well for the last few years - and I think they're doing something smart if they're holding projects up because the scripts stink. There's been a bunch of super-budget flops this year because release dates were more important than the scripts, if they're really stepping back and thinking about that, I think this will be a very good trend for them to start.

Isn't TMNT returning as a TV series as well?

I'm beginning to think Paramount is in financial doo-doo. TMNT has just as much chance for a revival as any other formerly hot franchise. The Smurfs and the Muppets have been out of the lime-light longer and both did very well. Look at Alvin and the Chipmunks!
