    Just saw this...

Hands down, one of my most favorite authors.

I regret not having a chance to meet him.

Will definitely be missed...seemed like such a sweet guy too. I wonder how Ray Harryhausen has taken the news...they were lifelong best friends.

I grew up reading his books. I guess this is the last of that fantastic generation of writers, when people were still reading books instead of magazines and on the internet.

Man---yet another giant is gone? It seems like pretty soon, all the legends will be just that---legends. Mr. Bradbury's passing is a loss not only to science-fiction fans, but the literary world at large! He was my fave sci-fi author right behing Arthur C. Clake. RIP, Ray, and condolences to your family and friends! You will live on forever through your words and ideas!!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

He once said in an interview fans would come up to him and say, "Mr. Bradbury! I'm such a big fan of your show, Star Trek! Thank You for such a wonderful TV series!" He said he didn't want to tell people he wasn't Gene Rodenberry because it might crush them. He was good friends with Rodenberry from what I've heard too.

I don't usually post on these RIP threads because I find it a little morbid but I had to say I really am sad to hear this news. He was such an important Sci-Fi icon and a pioneer in his time. RIP old friend.
