There was a segment on NPR yesterday suggesting that the studio fears another box office bomb like "Battleship", "John Carter" and "Dark Shadows" and that's the real reason why they pushed "GI Joe: Retaliation" back. Maybe the original 3D reason was a cover story devised by Duke and company?
Let's face it, it's not 1977 anymore and people have waaayyy more choices on what to do with their time rather than sit in a movie theater for 2 hours or more.
I remember when I was a kid in the 70s and teen in the 80s, a new sci-fi or fantasy themed film or an old one on television was a TREAT! Something to be savoured as special, unique.
Now with the net and everything else we have - it's like we're almost overwhelmed with choices and a lot of films and tv get by me- I don't have time for it.
Thoughts, anyone?
Maybe I'm turning into that cranky old man down the street. Now excuse me, I have to go yell at sit some kids to "get off my lawn!"
